There are times when we miss the right time to manage the agroforest, and the best option is to start over. However, there is a possibility of making use of what already exists in the area. This video addresses that.

Flowers for the wife is SO smart! Your explanations in English really impressed me, it reminds me of myself speaking Japanese. Like you, I speak the language well but when I talk about farming or say economics, I have to use simple words because I don't know the specialized words of the topic.

Interesting to see how most resources comes from the place, maybe even the manure is from the nearby cows. If this is done in bigger scale then it could be a possibility to live on the land like a full time job as agriculture without damaging the soil but to make it better. Making the local nature better and mating the global better and also better money for the farmers! A win-win-win!

Really love these managment video's, shows the real work. Keep it up! Love to see how you design/redesign this area. Do you plant most of things from seed or grow some seedlings? Cheers,

The next videos will be easier for you to watch. I don't use seedlings for this area, but in other projects I do.

Thank you for another amazing video , i see your cactuses are nice and healthy, in morroco we have big problems with Cochineals insects killing them, how can we deal with that

Harvest the cochineal and sell for dye. After years of harvesting them, you will reduce their population and have thriving cacti. Keep growing out the cacti to increase their population while the cochineal reduces. Permaculture principals!

Insects are better controlled in more diverse environments. Species diversity and density accompanied by soil cover can help.

Hello! I have couple of questions. groforestry and food forests are mostly done in tropical and subtropical environments. But what about temprate environments where you have wimter, freezing and snow? Is it possible to make a food forest in such environments? Where can I finf reading material or information how natural succesion works in such climates? How to chose species? Can you grow potato, wheat and corn or other annual plants in such sistem better than in conventional farming?

A quick search for temperate agroforestry will lead you to work in the US and Northern Europe. Lots of folks in snow zones using native and non native trees, bushes, forbs and annuals.

I'm planting a food forest in Minnesota, US, where winters are long and cold. I recommend that you read "Permaculture: a designer's manual" by Bill Mollison. Permaculture is based on agroforestry but includes many other techniques as well. There are many permaculture videos on KZbin. You can grow corn, wheat, and other crops in the alleys between the trees. If you are a good gardener/farmer and have built up your soil, you can achieve high yields, but in the beginning, yields are likely to be lower. Good luck and get started.

These are such important questions. However, I can't answer you here because I don't know much literature about it. If I'm ever where you work, we can talk more about it. I want to plant in places with low temperatures like I did in Chile, but I didn't record videos. I hope someone who is following the channel needs some advice in cold places so I can record for you. If anyone from cold places needs advice, get in touch at internationalagroforestry.com

Interesting to see how even a partial failure can be fixed to a working fruit forest. You prune the cotton wood very hard to get mulch but is the sticks still standing shooting new growth, or are the sticks that you left deadwood? This looks more like a fruit and vegetable garden than a start for an Atlantic Rainforest. Maybe your bigger trees did not make it? Still it gives a start for something better than former grazing land!

This way we can certainly speed up the processes!

Great practical example! Is it better to have tree logs on the edge to keep the grass out or will the chop and drop alone be enough? Can you explain how you prepared the land from day 1 to now (1 year later) please? When did you plant the fence for pruning?

Excellent video BUT this approach is not going to work in temperate climates. In Brasil? 100%, but not in Frace.

Invite me to France and we can talk about systems adapted to your location. The principles are the same, but there are the particularities of each environment that need to be taken into consideration and temperature is one of them.

@@InternationalAgroforestry ofc there are, in Brasil the shade is your friend, in France the shade is your enemy, growing seasons are shorter, you dont have to interplant anything to support the rest. We have been growing apple tree "forests" for centuries and the lack of water is not a problem. The problem are the super short growing time windows for the vegetables, the Sun does not fry them like in the tropics.

@@jf3457it must depend on where in France you are! Apple growing is not done by the Mediterranean coast and there the tricks are needed! Also to protect from frost it is a potential to use trees for protection instead of smoke to stop the frost! And you might be able to grow peaches by getting a warmer local climate. All depends what you want to achieve!
