My grandfather was a marine in ww2. I started to watch Savings Private Ryan with him for the first time. We made it less than 5 min. in. He looked at me and said, "I don't want to watch this anymore. Turn it off." He never talked about the war. It was at that point I knew why and how bad it must have been for him.

I think cloning is neat. I'm not into the "modern" cloning builds so much. For me it's much older guns. Recently put together a clone of the GAU-5/A. Got lucky when I found out that "H&R" makes both the lower and "pistol" upper so I put those two together, and also just recently picked up an actual moderator to put on it. Also put on one of those new Colt 4x scopes on it, although I'm not 100% certain it would be actually correct for the GAU-5/A. For some reason I'm really into the more obscure stuff, and it's not even on purpose. It seems like the XM177E2 is way easier to find stuff and I'm here like I want to do the early Air Force version because it's just neat. Hopefully I can slowly put together actual Colt parts together to make it as true as I can. Also picked up one of the Colt R0639 kits from Apex and had the front stub welded onto an 80% receiver to make it just that much more true. I love going into the nerdy details on what is specifically correct on things, I really enjoy Mishaco's channel when he talks about this kind of stuff.

Nodak Spud used to offer an upper which resembled the old H&R uppers. What made them look authentic was how much (or how little) forging flash was left on the carry handle.

I listen to Steve Holland every week. Hes not trolling the mk12 board. He actually builds all those oddball SPRs and shoots them. Mk12/SPR is an upper so whatever that upper goes on, becomes the mk12. He sounds like he actually really enjoys the Fight Lite build and has a mk12 lever action on the way😂

May I just say thank God for Austin. I was so disheartened when I heard that same old dead horse of the mythic german super tank and the feeble allied armor. Austin gets so much respect from me for recognizing that the American tanks were solid and well built war machines and that the majority of german armor wasnt uberpanzers. His knowledge was impressive and im glad to see the allied armor get properly praised and the nazi propaganda to be discounted. 🎉❤

Around 2010 my brother picked up slick side M16 kit (everything except a lower) for $200 at a gun show. It had and old style bakelite stock and grip, and a slick side upper with a pencil barrel and triangular hand guards. I checked the numbers and it was from an Air Force rifle from the early 1970's. After Sandy Hook this type of stuff dried up, and people were asking a fortune for retro parts kit. My brother installed them on a modern lower, however I suggested he should've picked up a slab side Nodak Spud to match the theme.

love clone uppers, never cared for cloning lowers. i mean for 90% of clones unless it’s a transferable m16 lower its not correct doesn’t matter if the markings are the same. i mean these are the same ppl that will call a clone incorrect bc it’s not the right forging mark on the upper but pay $500+ for a stripped semi automatic lower just bc it says government on it which i find just laughable so yea i’m fine with my lower being whatever brand i choose and built how i like with the trigger and stock i prefer

If it passes the 10 yard visual test, I don't really care. I used a Primary Arms SLX red dot on my BHD build and painted it and most people don't know it's not an Aimpoint unless they're physically holding the rifle. Looks close enough? Good enough.

I think Brownells has done very well on retro clone stuff. Theyre 4x carry handle optic is made by the company that Colt originally contracted. The only difference is the new one has updated glass (because glass isnt made like it was in the 70s) but thats an improvement that doesnt hurt the cloningness.

I really wish B&T would make an ACTUAL correct clone of the TMP. The TP9 is close, but there are actually incorrect things about it. The picatinny rail for one. Also the TMP used a cross bolt safety, which I believe the early TP9's had but that wasn't for long. Come on B&T make it correct or at least do a small batch run! And do that small batch run as factory SBR's.

Hey admin, I've been thinking about building my first AR and I want to make it an acid gambit or gothic serpent car-15. I am however a wee little one/young adult and do not posses substantial funds to blow 10 grand on finding the right parts or gun. SO I was wondering what would be your suggestion for a good budget ar that I could base a build off of and a good flashlight and optic. They just have to look like it could be from the movie it doesn't need to be exact. Also could i find one of the mag holders that goes on the side of the lower receiver easily? Overall budget $2000. Love the vids god bless.

I dont clone, i just cant myself to do it. I made a Mock12 HodH. Not a Mark, a Mock. Its a quality 16" middy with a 2.5-10x and match trigger so it fits the theme, but will never fit the parts list. Same as my retro rifle, its a 16" middy with slim round M&P10 handguard on an A2 upper with an XM177 lower with a BCM Mk2 buffer tube but proper grey parts and an A1 grip and plastic XM177/CAR stock. Authentic? Nope. Fun, heck yeah.
