If it's your second biopsy then the interval usually be 60 days and the reason is to wait to reduce inflation from previous biopsy.

I was able to schedule a biopsy less than 2 weeks after my appointment with an ENT. Was able to do a scan within two weeks after requested.

Sooo, my doc felt a fullness in my thyroid and nodules 3 weeks ago, I’ll get my u/s next Monday, probably another 2 weeks to get results from u/s and then another month to get appointment for a biopsy and another 2 weeks to hear back regarding those results. If only it could all go this smoothly and quickly in real life, that’d be great!!

It would be nice if everything happened this quickly. I’m having a thyroid biopsy this upcoming Friday and my primary physician listed it as “urgent” after an ultrasound last Wednesday. I’m hoping for the best. My thyroid blood tests were not good but I do have most of the symptoms for hyperthyroidism and a large nodule was found. My mother and sister had half of their thyroid glands removed years ago.

slipdisco did they have to go on medication?
@slipdisco4 жыл бұрын
Yes, thyroid hormone replacement daily. Both seem to be doing fine. I got my biopsy results on Wednesday. I have papillary thyroid cancer and will be having a total thyroidectomy and lymph node removal on February 24th.

WorldWithoutHate=PeaceonEarth, thank you for asking. My surgery went well and I am recovering just fine. I had my follow-up appointment yesterday. The initial diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer with Grave’s Disease was confirmed. The cancer metastasized to three lymph nodes. I am following up with my surgeon and an endocrinologist/oncologist on March 24th. I know that I will have radioactive iodine treatment in the near future. My cancer is something called Tall Cell Variant which can be aggressive so I will be vigilant and compliant to watch for recurrence. It is still early in the process for me so I’m still adjusting to everything. I’m on the daily hormone replacement medication and all of my symptoms have remained and they are exclusive to the Grave’s Disease. I had no symptoms with the cancer meaning there was no pain and my nodules were not noticeable. I was actually planning lower back surgery when all of this thyroid stuff reared its ugly head. Although I desperately need back surgery, that has moved to the back burner while I deal with they thyroid issues. I have a good medical team and I am confident that things will work out. I hope the Grave’s Disease symptoms start to lessen. I was told that it would happen once I get used to the new medicine and that could take a while.

I've had a number of biopsies and they were uncomfortable but didn't really hurt. However, the cells have to be sent away to a specialist for a week to make sure that they are fully and properly analysed.

I'm going to request another clinic Doctor but I had to call the Endocrinology clinic myself and get another ultrasound and blood test scheduled.

Is this any problem with swelling around neck that Dr recommend me biopsy , and what's the reason of swelling if i have thyroid blood test is in range . Please reply me i need your help.
@severiousblack45604 жыл бұрын
It can be cold nodule (The nodule that does not function autonomously and hence does not affect thyroid hormone level) Biopsy is indicated if your doctor has find something suspicious. Go for it. I suggest you to read the book "Thyropedia: An Encyclopedia of Thyroidology" This book can answer each and every query on any thyroid issue. Search "thyropedia" on Amazon.

what did they do to your thyroid? biopsy?
@bettysmith45275 жыл бұрын
Maude, they are representing how they do it in this particular office, not everywhere! Also everyones pain tolerance and general experience is going to be different. I had one done yesterday and while it was not completely pain free, it wasn't excruciating either. I had a low level of pain which was received with ice and tylenol, no big deal! This is why it's so exhausting working in medicine, because every patient wants a painless and perfect procedure, and even more patients have become unreasonable! There is no such thing as a painless procedure people!
