I welded a couple hooks to the top of my tractor bucket that would hook on the top or second ring of an IBC tote and moved full baskets that way. Did that several years before I could afford a set of forks. it is hard on the crate, but it got the job done. forks are better but not necessary.

Manual labour is a great way of keeping slim as long as you’re not being over strenuous, you also have to look out for repetitive strain injuries I just wish I knew that 30yrs ago, then nothing would stop me trying to move the immovable 👍🏻🏴

@@ewanstewart8011 I do love manual labor. And you're absolutely right. As a matter of fact, I'm battling a bit of tennis elbow in my right arm. Luckily, I can swing a tool with my left just as well 🤠👍

Sam, I believe you said you have a welder on your farm somewhere, and you have those yellow forks that attach to the red 3 point plate. Put your bucket down on the ground and figure out a way to attach the plate and forks to the big pin hole at the top back of the bucket. Chain the tote to the forks so it won't slide off. Then you can use the entire lifting height of the bucket and it's curl ability to dump the tote. I bet if you set those things next to each other you can come up with a way to fabricate a system cheaply using scrap to attach to the bucket and get some awesome range of motion.
@aaronbruckelmeyer13 күн бұрын
Tricky part is attaching the bottom of the plate to the bucket.. perhaps an extension that hooks under the teeth and to the 3point plate. Top point to a pipe thru the pin hole on bucket with brackets to mount to and bottom hook under teeth with 2 points to plate.

Have you thought of this - Stack one pallet on top of another and then fix a hinge to one side of them joining them. Have the hinge face out when you add your cage on top. Secure the cage to the top pallet. Left the whole thing up level to the height you want to put into your truck and then simple use the hinge to flip the cage over and empty the wood.

I wonder if your 3-point forks can tilt a full tote (opening side towards you) upward so that you can slide a 2 wheel dolly rig under the open side. Then lower the tote onto the dolly. Then move the tractor around to the closed side and lift the tote level with forks and secure to forks. Then you could pull the full tote around like a little trailer. Just brainstorming... great video!

@rustyr1320 Those are great ideas 💡 I have another plan and it does involve the 3 point system. Video to follow, of course 🤠👍

I know they make a mini dumpster type of thing you pick up with a forklift and it dumps into a bigger dumpster but can't remember what it is called! But if you could make something that would fit on your forks for the three points that is hinged you could trip a latch and dump the tote, hope you have a good day and stay warm!!
@danielmacdonald1613 күн бұрын
Its called a hopper. I have a one yard hopper that weighs 650 lbs empty. I also have a 3 yard hopper. They are wonderful but don't fully dump everything even when pitched down. I must use a hoe to encourage the trash to slide out. Would not be that helpful on his BX 3 point given lift height limitation. And too heavy for the bx loader. I use on a forklift. Not very useful with my 1025R.

Good morning Sam. I'll give you an A for effort. In order to build a business, you need a good foundation. You have the ambition and the can-do attitude, which is a fantastic start. In my opinion, the next part of that foundation is a tractor that can do what your business needs it to do. I know that's not what you can afford, but it is essential, in my opinion. It would be more efficient and most of all safer for you. It may mean selling the BX and shopping for a clean used Kubota 4020 or equivalent. Tools are expensive but your safety is also very valuable. I know the easiest thing to do is to spend someone else's money and this is not my intention this is strictly my opinion. Keep up with the great content.

suggestion; check into pallet forks for mini excavator. New they run $2,000 to $3,000 including the hook-up to the excavator.

@@samsdoinstuff alternative idea, clamp-on pallet forks for your tractor ($150). Yes I know your tractor won't lift a full tote of firewood, hand toss one row and dump the second row. OR use on widest bucket you have for excavator.
@samsdoinstuff11 күн бұрын
@jerrykalms9669 Good idea. We've actually tried that. #1 you absolutely have to unpin the bucket and turn it around. Which, I'm trying to avoid. #2 they are a PITA for more reasons I have time to list. That being said, there are new ideas brewing and I'm very excited to try. They involve a Harbor Freight 3 point quick hitch I'm no longer using 🤠👍

Yeah the excavator is probably not gonna solve the IBC tote movement concerns. It’s great for lifting firewood poles to buck up and of course excavating, digging holes, trenching etc. I see the excavator as your side hustle😎. Extra money to fund the firewood business. Good stuff.

weld a d ring on the back of the bucket. Run you straps underneath and up to a shackle. Shackle with a short chain to the d ring. Another chian or cable from the bottom of the back of the pallet on the tote. Bring the thumb down and connect your chain or cable....Lift the tote and then pick the thumb up or move to the stew position. It will dump the tote.
