Thanks for sharing. I’ve been wanting to build one for a long time. Since there was a good sale from the mfg Watt Cycle on eBay vs Amazon, I just took a leap and bought 2 LifePO 100AH 12v Batteries. I want to keep my fridge running if we lose power and I felt 1 battery wouldn’t cut it. I did see 2 things missing that other Solar Builders stress, Fuses and a Cut Off Switch. There should be a fuse between the Battery and the Inverter and also a master Cut Off switch between the batteries and the inverter. A short across a Lithium Battery can throw a lot of Amps and a possibly a fire. Great Job. Dave in PA.
@samsdoinstuff
@samsdoinstuff 3 сағат бұрын
Thanks Dave! I will very likely add a cut-off switch. The wiring that came from Power Queen did not include a fuse between the inverter and the battery and said nothing about adding one in the instructions. I agree, that would be a very good safety mechanism. Makes me wonder why they didn't include it or is there something built into the inverter? I'll look into it further 🤠👍

Need a higher powered inverter for running those high demand motors like that chop saw, a circular saw would be the same way. the slower start up would have been a give away that you were pulling too many amps, surprised it didn't trip the inverter. You'd really want a 3,000 watt inverter or larger for those high demand devices. Yep, for just charging power tool batteries that 2,000 watt inverter is fine, but to run those high draw power tools you need a larger inverter and a larger AH battery overall. I've thought about something similar, but I'd just install some of those heavy duty quick connect cables to the truck battery and run them out the grill of the truck, and then wire an inverter to connect to those cables, much better solution than packing around that heavy battery LOL....now, if you maybe build that thing into one of the many wheeled tool boxes like the Packout box that has wheels and a carry handle that would be an awesome ideal solution, plus you could throw your power tool battery chargers on the box and be able to charge them too...with using something that size you could do dual batteries and give yourself more power to run a larger inverter too.

Love this.!! I have a few suggestions if you don’t mind. First, you can get another battery and run it in series for better output to your tools. Second. When attaching solar you should leave the controller turned off and attach the battery and panels last. Then power everything.!! Last I would highly recommenda waterproof container for everything. I built mine on one of those folding hand trucks with 3 batteries. I use standard boat batteries. I have lost a few inverters due to moisture. There are some solar controllers that have great displays with lots of info. PS. Mini water and wind turbines are getting good .!!!! Keep at it brutha. Happy holidays. 🎄⚡️❤️‍🔥

Cool project Sam! There’s an easy way to figure out the run time for the appliances. The refrigerator is pulling 40 watts, and the battery capacity is about 1280 watt hours. So just divide 1280 by 40 and you get 32 hours of run time on a full battery. Also, your inverter might be a little beefy for that battery, but I would feel comfortable pulling up to 1000 watts continuously with that setup. So the cement mixer is no problem. Also would work great for cooking while camping, and a coffee pot! (For job sites too) I enjoyed this video! I like simple little projects like this.
