Just-in-Time learning makes tools like SketchUp so valuable and easy to learn. Just-in-Case learning, a method used so much in the past, tends to overload the student with too much information, often at the wrong time. Thanks for such well thought out Just-in-Time modules!

WANTED TO ADD. I have been on SKU for self taught for years and am 60+ I wish I was OCD instead of ADHAD doing 60 storey building concepts etc. What you taught me about OUTLINER was the BEST EVER. I always get drawn into the model creation and make groups etc galore but most of the time forget to give them names. Yesterday this came to bite me in the bum very blatantly. I could NOT find two items that were not part of a bigger group I want to move and slide in an animation. THANK YOU SO MUCH now I have to spend x month to name all the groups in all my models I'll be done by 80 probably. But I promise myself I never ever will not name anything on my screen.

Very helpful. I appreciate your naming things with simple obvious names. I used to teach the same way with files named big dog, little dog etc. This tool is so powerful but I did not understand how useful it was. Thank you for taking time and effort to explain in a simple straight forward but complete manner. Making complex items simple to understand is the mark of a superior teacher. Thanks.

Hello! Justin. I just had an interview with a big company last weekend. I had Friday, and all weekend to prepare for it. I used Revit and SketchUp. They wanted to see 'a rendering of a plan.' It turns out that it was a side angle (SketchUp rendering) of an apartment. I reminded the man that this 'angle' is what used-to-be an Axonometric drawing. This could be a job.

I’m feeling like I’m wasting hours looking for answers and the 1,000’s of videos and discussions are spread out across a different product ( Pro, Make, Layout, Previous versions every year, etc). How can i find specifically the answers to the product/ year (version) I’m using? 3:49 3:49

Hey Justin, Is there a way to un group? Say that you forgot to group individual items and then realized that you didn't want them in the larger group and wanted to put them in a smaller group or edit them what can you do? Once an abject is grouped or nested grouped, how do you know that it is ready for editing ? And 2nd question is : why when using explode command on an object of component, it modifies that object only and not all components ?
@Thesketchupessentials6 жыл бұрын
I guess I don't understand the first question - if you're talking about when you can edit the faces of the object itself, it will be whenever you can select the individual parts of the object (lines, faces) - For the second question - if you're exploding the overall individual component, it will work on that instance only by unlinking it from the other copies of that component. If you're exploding something grouped WITHIN the component, it will affect ever other instance as well. Hopefully that made sense

Justin clear presentations. I am curious about the tool display and how it differs from the free sketchup version I want use with my secondary students. The one I have at app.sketchup.com/app?hl=en# shows tools in black & white and has the ones on the left vertical panel "menued" vs. your video display of color and tools all along each frame of the screen. Is there a technique I can use to get my working screen closer to your tutorial screen. It would help the students find and use tools more quickly. Thanks

Not really - the online version just fundamentally looks different than the desktop version - the keyboard shortcuts work in a similar fashion though...

@@Thesketchupessentials , thanks for info. I have limited experiences, so.sorry if this question sounds naive. Can I assume that all commands you use are there, just organized in different places on the online version?

Generally, but not always - for example - I don't know if the outliner (the topic of this videos) is available in the SketchUp for Schools version - that said, most of the modeling tools, like shapes, push pull, follow me, etc will be very similar. I think your materials application will be significantly different - it's kind of a case by case thing, and I don't know super well just because I use the desktop version
