Some prisoners will ask other prisoners for some stuff like their commissary, and they gotta pay it back. If not, then that could affect their relationship unless he pays his dept. Just an idea idk And some ways the prisoner could do to pay back is either through paying with his money, giving the exact items that he asked for in the beginning, or giving his tray to the person he owes which can lead to him being malnourished.

So when it comes to the Deployment screen, and you can set particular areas of the prison as Staff-only or Shared, is there a provision that allows only prisoners who are working there, and staff, but not just any prisoner, to enter the room? Sort of like staff-only but also allowing prison labourers. That would be a useful addition, so that prisoners can't just waltz into the kitchen during free time and steal a knife.

I'm starting to really dislike Paradox's model of business. The fact that you will have to wait for 27 DLC's for any consequent game in any given series for it to feel and play like its predecessor, include all of its features and maybe improve upon them on a good day, is quite infuriating. It happened to CS2, it happened to CK3, now PA is in for a treat as well. Why is there TWO options for prison labour at the start while there were at least 4 in the original? Hopefully I'm wrong, but it's probaby bc you'll have to pay another 20 bucks for the license plate machine and carpentry table.

I don’t mind their DLC model for newer series, such as what they did with Stellaris, it definitely creates more “engagement” and shows if the series is worth it, unfortunately you do end up with imperators and what seems to be happening with the Star Trek infinite…. However it’s extremely noticeable in series based games like PA, CK, even hoiv came with noticeable downgrades even if it was to its own benefit

I get that if there’s a lot of dlc it can’t all be base game in the next entry but that’s why I think more vanilla plus core dlcs are the ones that should become base game next game In pa2’s case I’d say stuff like psyche ward, cleared for transfer and gangs are definitely ones that need to be basegame pa2 as I find them to be really good supplementary bonuses that fit the game well and feel like I need to use them when I play pa1

They are just taking a solid 2D game and turning it into a 3D game. A few minor changes but essentially the same game. Doubt this will do well if they go the paid DLC route for any new content we didn’t have in PA1. And since it’s Paradox that’s pretty much a lock

With PDX it's a tossup. Typically they add some free features with DLC, so it's entirely possible some parts will return like that but end up expanded with the DLC.

Suggestion : If prisoner work in kitchen , make him exceptional from regime ! If kitchen is ready to start prepare meal, prisoner will go work in kitchen regardless of regime at the time. We had problem in PA1 , kitchen start work 4 hours before EAT time, if is sleep/shower time 4 hours before eat time prisoner can't work in kitchen.

That sounds like a conflict of interest :L - building a prison so you can escape yourself. But also I'd not expect this on release, it sounds more like a mod and nothing to do with the main gameplay.

3 minute vid of managing prisoners with no new features at all compared to PA1, the only actual change being that we now have LESS control over the regime because timeslots are in 2 hour blocks rather than 1 hour. i'm losing hope! edit: the feature highlight confirms it's split into 1 hour blocks rather than 2, so fair enough. but the feature highlight also confirms the only two choices for prison labor are kitchen and laundry... so no janitor work, no workshops, no carpentry, no forestry, no commissary... what a downgrade from PA1 in that regard.

On the steam page for PA2 there is a screenshot of the timeslots with 1 hour blocks and not 2. In the description it says "The Regime is split into one-hour blocks...". So im a bit confused, it could be a feature to have both 1 hour and 2 hour blocks, unless one of them is outdated.

One thing I'm noticing with these Feature Videos is that the prisons seem smaller and more personal than in Prison Architect 1. It's just my assumption looking at the birds-eye at @2:52 , it's not really an area I've seen much information about. I think smaller and more personal could work really well as although the character info was there, in PA1 I never really started to recognize or remember my prisoners as characters, they were just a number for making more money for the prison. Very keen to see where this game goes!

I expect it wont have the amount of content from PA1, unfortunately. Its rare in this industry that a sequel not only has a graphical upgrade but also has more features and content. Bit comparable to the issues from a new vanilla Civilization. A new basegame rarely has the amount of content from the final state on the previous iteration. That said, downgrade is unacceptable. Where is my deathrow and flooding of showers? Basegame of PA2 should be better and contain more then basegame PA1!

Prison Architect never needed a sequel. It never needed to be 3D. It wasn’t perfect, but it was damn good in the medium it lived in. This…this looks soulless. After the lack of content and dumbing down we saw in Cities Skylines 2, I don’t have high hopes for PA2. It looks like a cheap mobile game. It’s not looking good.

honestly just go with PA1, this version is a bad spin off and includes no new features whatsoever they only turned it 3D and added floors. make it worth your money. PA1 had way more freedom of customisation especially in things like programs/deployment/logistics/remote control/automation. PA1 also has escape mode, death row, a lot of mods, settings like temperature, female prisoners, staff needs, ...

PLEASE - Make sure the prisoners STICK to the allotted schedule. Right now in PA1, the prisoners don't stay in the yard if they don't want to and just wander around as if in free time, going to canteens, common rooms, etc. at will. This is BAD for a prison that has certain prisoners using certain areas SEPERATELY for a reason...

You can't show up to date gameplay? 8 months is a complete cycle of development for some games, half a cycle for WWE2K games. It's a different game in 8 months. This is a very poor marketing strategy. A week between videos, re-cycling the same screens and gameplay and it's not even the current build. Especially now the announcement of delay.
