Hello Manas, You did a great job. Could you please post a lecture about 3-D stress analysis including the cases of plane stress and plane strain for concrete with respect of change in Temperature and Moisture when cement is poured and internally cured in soil and fixed between two rigid bodies which hold it from deformation in the Z-axis? Thanks again and again for the great lectures.

Hi sir.. I have a doubt in the derivation where normal stress is proved to be equal to shear stress. In triangle ACD, A denotes the area of the planar surface [29:44] (as you mentioned clearly in 3d of the same triangle). But when you calculate for the cos45 where as of the formula the "a" denotes the length of the adjacent side. But you took A which is later canceling out the A area which was the planar surface when you submit (A/cos45) in place of AC in the formula "normal stress = (2 x shear stress x sin45) / AC. Can you please clear this out??

At 30:00 .. why two perpendicular forces on AC do not cancelling each other like tangential
@devilmaycry5697
@devilmaycry5697 5 жыл бұрын
The two forces are only cancelled out if they are acting in opposite direction to each other. But since they are in same direction, they will be added.

@@devilmaycry5697 i think thats not the question in triangle ADC nd BDC both have 2Tsin45 stress why dont they cancelled out as similar to tangential stress ?? can you pls ans me??

@rashtrawaditarun 4 жыл бұрын
@@mallikarjunv3041 as we have cut it into two parts...if we take one part at a time then we cant cancel... If two parts are taken then it will get cancelled.. and thats why your whole system is in equilibrium... Hope it will help..

Beautiful teaching, I am working as a scientist in ISRO, URSC. Thinking of Giving Gate 2021. I never have liked Strength of materials during my Aerospace Btech. I was thinking of skipping the whole structure portion itself, as for us only qualifying score is required, but believe me you made me reconsider my descision. But I have one doubt, when you are talking about shear stress why are you making shear stress on all the four sides of the representative Square element ? Means one couple half arrow on top and bottom should work nice enough for shear stress . Because once you make on all the four side you need to fix two sides, as couple cannot be generated otherwise. CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG ....
@srinivas580
@srinivas580 3 жыл бұрын
Top and bottom force creates couple . in som we consider body is in equilibrium hence to equalize there will another couple acting opposite to that of first couple hence there will be four shear stresses
