Good review. I own both and agree with almost everything you said. However, I still prefer RT because it's a little more rough around the edges, and that makes it more interesting to me. Carlisle is more versatile, better blended, & probably uses better ingredients, but I still prefer RT.

hey i got my red tabaco today. wow it is the strongest frag i have ever smelled ever. its super rough. tried scrubbing it off after 20 mins, nope, took a shower. nope. can still smell the two sprays to my wrist 16 hours later

Great review like that you pop in 1984 hafez also for the comparison. So looks like Red tobacco is definitely a getter for the cash value.

To my nose there is too little difference between these two after the first half hour to be worth having both; Carlisle is much more refined for that first half hour, but for me that doesn't justify the additional cost. Chopard Oud Malaki has that same tobacco note as these two in a refined and interesting composition that offers something more, and is much less beastly - probably more appropriate for serious situations where these two would be too overpowering.

Joy. As always thanks for the content. I have bottles of both. Red Tobacco is Carlisle's rougher little brother. Carlisle is more refined and better blended but I like both. I reach for Carlisle more and it is a compliment beast. Be safe.

Carlisle has more spicy medicinal vibe and to my nose I detect clove at the background while Red Tobacco has more tobacco/leather and fruity vibe. Both are great

I own PDM Carlisle and Oajan. Both are so nice but I prefer Carlisle a little better. Yet to try mancera red tobacco. Seems like a masculine scent.

Red tobacco is worth the money . Carlisle is a tip off. I just bought a bottle of Carlisle and it lasted 2 hours on skin. For the price that is shameful

I just put a spray of each on the back of my hands. The pdm is hands-down the superior fragrance, by a wide margin imho. The mancera is loud and strong but 2 dimensional. Carlisle is smells more full and rounded off. It has a higher-end feel. At the price point it's not a surprise. You're better off saving for the pdm. I bought an 8ml travel spray of pdm and here I am less than a week later ordering the bottle online. I already had the mancera but will be re-homing it.

I’d say absolutely not for summer lol I got a decant and tested it again for my fiancé about a week ago... she absolutely loved it (indoors). Well, fast forward a few hours, we were outside doing yard work in 90F FL weather and it was literally choking us out 😂 Def go easy on the trigger, it is NO joke!

Parfums de Marly has REFORMULATED Carlisle. I own an older formulation which has an alcohol concentration of 77%. The new formulation I see in stores has 81% alcohol. My formulation is a dark ORANGE / AMBER color. The new formulation is a very light, faint copper color. The new formulation does not last as long and it smells different. Parfums de Marly fragrances are ALWAYS getting reformulated and become much weaker than their ORIGINAL releases. Parfums de Marly HAS NOT been transparent when it comes to the reformulation of their fragrances. Herod, Layton & Oajan have also been reformulated and have 3%-4% more alcohol in newer batches.

Carlisle all day long. Red Tobacco is too challenging and far less mass appealing. I still like it a lot, but Carlisle VS Red Tobacco...? No contest if I was offered a free bottle of one or the other.
