Nice to see the Airtours MD-83 and Translift DC8-71 - I worked as cabin crew for both airlines through the 90s

Two things are brought into realisation for me with this video. Firstly how amazing the diversity of aircraft we had in the 90's and secondly how the evolution of aircraft has slowed from then to now.. No question we have some impressive engineering thats creating good aircraft but how amazing is it to see how far ahead Concorde was then and although its now not in service it would still be the most advanced plane in the sky today 13 years after being retired from service.

chris kelly I think technology in the 21st century full stop. Take 1990 and 2000, you can see lots of changes and differences, 2000 and 2010 are worlds apart in terms of modernity and technology, styles and influence, media, culture... then 2010s to now?? Life ten years ago feels and looks exactly the same. People wearing skinny jeans, the style of music, social media isn’t a lot different bar Snapchat and Instagram, you could easily walk the street in 2012 and not notice you were in a time slip. Phones and technology are basically the same. No major difference.

Absolutely fantastic find! Used to love watching the planes come in and take off as a kid in the early 90's from Manchester. Although I remember it being from on top of a building back then. Now it's just the airport pub beer garden and no Concorde unfortunately

Amazing video. Great memories of when aircraft were interesting. Flew many times on the Caledonian Tristar. Loved that aircraft and so nice to see great footage of it. Also great to see the concorde. We have gone so far backwards in aircraft since then. Go to Manchester today and all you see is Ryanair 737s and Easyjet A320s.

And I always wanted to fly ATA Tristar to MCO from Manchester but had to fly an Air 2000 757 via Bangor. Would love to have known what the service was like on the charters from the UK back then

Fantastic - I'm so glad you uploaded this. The first bit is from '92 but the Laker DC-10 is from around 1996 ,as they re-launched around this time - I'm sure it wasn't around in 1992. Great work.

A rarity landing at 03:27 (727-276 Atlantsflug TF-AIA), aircraft nicknamed by maintenance crew "Terribly Bloody Lucky". This aircraft should have been a total loss by 2 times (at Melbourne in 1976 and 1977). First delivered to Trans Australia in 1975. If someone want to read more about these accidents : www.aussieairliners.org/b-727/vh-tbl/vhtbl.html. Thank you for sharing , these videos are pieces of aviation history !!!

First airline for a lot of us I reckon going on hols, but I always wanted to go on that Britannia 767 or new Monarch 757, only to end up on that BAC 1.11 or 727 to Malaga, Alicante or Palma due to tour operators my parents would have gone with lol

It used to be both American Trans Air, Continental, Northwest, TWA and US Airways and these are some old U.S. airlines.

the best bit is hearing the plane fly straight overhead....... which has been edited out of every single shot! for fucks sake.

+Bailey&Stella Productions OK - a few Airbii - but nothing like it is today! What a motley assortment of airlines, - I tend to think there are less airlines and few plane types (especially wide body aircraft) at MAN today.
