Brilliant film! Brings back such good memories of my trips to LHR/LGW in the late 80's!! L1011's, DC-10's, 727's, the Tupolev's, not to mention the DC-8's and 707's!!! All the old girls!! It's just not the same with all the new breed of aircraft about nowadays. Don't get me wrong, the safety aspect of aircraft is so much more advanced than it was back in the day, but still miss the old machines!! Thanks for posting this!
@fr-tigerfangs70397 жыл бұрын
BA's A320 aside, the only aircraft "relic" still flying today, out of this 1989 Heathrow hodge-podge, is probably the Tu-154, but it would no longer be in Malev's livery. Possibly a couple of these 737-300s too. But that would be it.
@csunil99632 жыл бұрын
Those aircraft engine sounds at Heathrow, just awesome !! And, those majestic 747's of BA .. all lined up; what a delight !! Nice to see that AI Jumbo Jet take off from LHR, probably on its way to BOM. Wow !! You even managed to capture the run and take off of the majestic BA Concorde !! Great spotting !!

Never did get to see a Concorde unfortunately, I did however hear their sonic boom occasionally when I lived in the South-West of Ireland. As for that old British Airways livery, I don't know if you're aware of this, but to celebrate their centenary this year they retro painted some of their 747-400's. Here's a link to a video, hope it's useful to you (mind your volume as the noise from the wind is quite intense!). kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2Gyf4GMZcahntU

Also, they've even gone and painted one in the BOAC livery! As you may already know, British Airways evolved out of the break up of BOAC. Here's a link to said retro livery. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGiaZI2efqefqbs

Patrick what a pleasure to see the golden old timers in action in this superb video. The action gives me goosebumps when we both young especially the picture of the Concorde seen both in action at Charles de Gaulle and Toronto Pearson my home town. The last flight we are as a family was on a Tristar to Charles de Gaulle in 1983 it has been so many years since I have been on a flight. Nothing like the oldies good solid metal made to last!! 9:39 JAT Yugoslav Airlines, nowadays renamed to AirSERBIA. Then at 11:11 we have two JAT planes in same time in London, a B727 and a B737. That company came to be for most 1970s and 1980s the 9th airline in Europe in size, destinations, fleet and quality, just behind the major airliners. JAT in 1989 had regular scheduled flights with its DC10s to Sydney, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Beijing, Delhy, Johanesbourgh, Adis Abeba, Harare, New York, Chicago, Toronto and Montreal. Pretty impessive seen from nowadays. It was something sort of world-wide "neutral world airline" (not American-allied, but neither Soviet-allied). When Yugoslav wars started in early 1990s, sanctions were imposed prohibiting Yugoslav airlines to fly internationally, and those sanctions took place for most of 1990s and literally killed JATs intercontinental routes. Its place in world was mostly taken by Turkish Airlines while JAT changed its name to AirSERBIA and is just now retaking its position as intercontinental carrier with the introduction of A330 and its New York route.
@stefanfischer7433 Жыл бұрын
JAT, even during their peak in the mid 1980s, never flew more south in Africa than the Maghreb states and Egypt. Their focus was more on the Yugoslavian communities in North America and Australia.
