@@poopermoodieisgay2131 why would there be if u went to the school you’d realise that the people who presumably would be racist to the international students aren’t and are actually in some cases friends with them, it’s the same with students that come here from Afghanistan

Discrimination in the UK is usually towards brown people (Specifically Muslims) Chinese/Hong Kong migrants are generally seen in a positive light, and weirdly enough they have a lot of right wing supporters (Unlike pretty much every other racial groups)

The majority of them are coming over for the free state and grammar schools. Truth is they are not coming over due to the political situation, it’s in their DNA to have an overseas education and to have dual citizenship. Most will return back to HK once they have their British Passports.

You are probably correct, But This is not like 1997,I am afraid there will not be a Hong Kong that will worth to return to.

How would you know? The parents literally gave up their careers, most of them being middle class professionals for blue collar jobs, you think they're doing that so their children can take advantage of the school system here? None of them want their children to be silent by fear. That's why they are here.
@jl24052 жыл бұрын
Ustp27 I think it’s most likely the parents are naive and have a misconception that kids who attend any Western style state schools in the UK must receive the same standard of education as those that attend International Schools in HK. Unless the kids are smart enough to get a place in a grammar school or have parents who can afford to pay for them to attend private schools then the majority of them will probably not do that well. Kind of ironic that all the government ministers and Prime Ministers attended either private schools or grammar ones. Just to name a few, David Cameron, Boris Johnson, Jeremy Hunt, Michael Gove, Rushi Sunak, Winston Churchill were all privately educated.

The same can be said for the expats who have been headhunted to work in HK. They come from an elite group.

@@jl2405 : There isn't such a thing as a dual citizenship. Cos China does not recognise dual nationality. That is already a given. If they do enter HK.. they have to enter with a British passport.. and even then.... By the time they are done in the UK.. I think HK would have closed the door already. HK really kind of messed up with their immigration part really. And that, is also why today.. it is more or less an actual crashed state. A bankrupted city as well. An unstable... city. By now, you kind of expected the people to literally actually raise itself back up.. and have an actual... taxation system in place. But funnily enough, so many people still play this trading game. I don't know why. They need to stop !
