5:43 I am still confused how Craig can act deluded and say he doesn’t believe any ref is truly bias. that is so naive, and especially after this with David Coote has come out. it’s a joke and also about commentators, i’ll point you to exactly ONE who is clearly bias when calling games: Gary Neville against Liverpool
@Photosoflife14 күн бұрын
@@dead_r33d Because like I told you on my thread this is how officials at all levels commonly talk in private. Particularly football officials because they receive so much abuse from coaches, players, and spectators. That’s why more coaches and players should be officiating at some point in their lives. Because it provides a perspective of the game that is very humbling and shows how much BS toxic abuse referees far too often put up with. And it’s why there is a massive referee shortage at the youth levels on up.

Rick DiPietro, the American goaltender Craig was talking about in the last segment. Selected first overall by the New York Islanders in 2000, signed for 15 years in 2006 but injuries ended his career in 2013, the contract got bought out and he'll continue to be paid by the Islanders till 2028-29 apparently somehow.
@tymkoc329313 күн бұрын
DiPietro, yeah, had a great season or bit more perhaps and got 15 year contract for that at, well, I don't know how many mil a year. What a wonderful life... for him and his. Good on him.
@antobannister9311 күн бұрын
The contract runs through 2028-'29 because, per NHL buyout terms, the player receives 2/3 of his agreed-to salary over twice the length of the remaining contract. He still had eight years left on his contract when he was bought out, so he's being paid over 16 years.

My opinions (like Cooke has about Klopp) influence the decisions I make all the time, my opinion is that the Gab & Jules pod cast isn't worth listening to, so I don't..... Saying Cooke's opinions don't influence his decisions is stupiid, main stream media seems to love ref's now, therefore I expect this lot never to comment on a refeering decision again as now they seem to think refs are great unbiased professionals (perhaps this lot think they are in that same catagory)

Shaka makes a good point. Fans are always compaining about VAR and bad refering they overlook it when it is in their favour. U will more or less have the same amount of decisions that favour you as those that go against you. Fans need to stop blaming VAR and referees. It evens out in the end. If your team is good enough then 49 decisions that go in your favour vs 51 that go against you should not matter. If you the best then these close moments shouldnt matter and you should be winning comfortable. U win some u lose some thats the way the cookie crumbles. Fans believe referees are paid-off and the world is against them is laughable. Think of it like this a result is preordained regardless of anything. Some will work and some wont for bigger teams it works more for than against. Common if this wasnt the case then the greastest 5 teams of all time would have 97/98% win rate 60+ game seasons which was clearly not the case.

Of course there is bias in refs. Every single person alive has bias towards things that happen in their life or they have to deal with. Managers are constantly biased about decisions for or against them. Klopp is probably a right pain to deal with from a refs perspective. And, yes that is my opinion and it is a bias. Every other opinion exists too and none is absolute. This utopian idea that everybody is supposed to be perfect at all times and nobody can have a conscious or unconscious bias is ridiculous. Would Liverpool likely have a bias against them occasionally from certain refs? Probably. Would they likely have a bias for them with others? Probably too. It is how the world operates. As in football, so in everything else.

As a former referee, I find it genuinely hilarious how people are reacting to the Coote video. News flash, referees talk about players and coaches together after literally every match. And surprise, surprise, referees are human and end up not liking certain players and coaches. Particularly because football culture has allowed referees to take a massive amount of disrespect and abuse that you categorically do not see in other sports like rugby, basketball, baseball, football, and hockey. Actually go and watch the Coote video before commenting. He looks like he’s possibly drunk. But nothing he said was actually any type of big revelation. Klopp was well known for being a huge pain in the backside. And a referee expressed that. Hardly surprising at all. Having said that, I’m sure the PGMOL will go into full damage control mode. But I’m sure everything he said in that video is very likely backed up by most of his colleagues nodding their heads in silence off the record.

@dead_r33d He used a very common British curse word to refer to Klopp. Which some people have taken as xenophobic because he referred to him as a German c**t. Other than that, I found nothing he said a big deal at all. He was naive to be recorded saying that on camera. But what he said is incredibly common for referees to talk about after literally every match during debriefs on the pitch or at the pub having a pint after the match. I just find it hilarious how people are reacting to a referee speaking like a large percentage of referees commonly do the world over after every match.
@RaySurv1ves14 күн бұрын
I understand what you're saying. All of this is normal human stuff, but at the same time a referee's entire job is to be impartial. I would think that referees, especially at these high levels, probably need to have an entire mental health support system included with their job and training on how to remain impartial, and anger management and all that kind of thing. I doubt they get any of that, though...

@@RaySurv1ves I hear what you’re saying too. And you make very valid points about additional support systems for professional referees. It’s what referees have to do every single day. A lot of people really don’t have a clue how much toxic BS referees put up with. It requires officials to tune out noise, not take things personally, and create mental barriers that don’t cause momentary reactions. But you can do all that and still not like players and coaches.
