This song got me through one of the biggest transitions of my life. I gave birth to a baby girl without the dad in the picture. I would listen to this while I rocked her to sleep for months. It gave me strength in my choices. His toxic pain ended with me. Not my daughter. History will repeat itself until somebody is ready to feel it & heal it.. he didn't want to break the patterns. So I broke it for the sake of my daughter. To me this song has 3 stories. Mine. His. & Hers. Little girl you are not cursed by his ancestry. Bc I took you away from his darkness & agony. I will always hold you above all the misery. I opened my eyes & I'm glad that I got here. Thank you for this beautiful song. 💜

Vilifying a person's father can have disastrous effects later down the line (psychologically speaking), just ask me. I'm glad you could leverage the power of music to help you through a difficult time, but you'd do well to stamp out that narrative before your daughter is old enough to understand/internalize it.

I'm a total sucker for constant build ups in tracks as well. Music that starts slow and quiet and then builds up to a big finale is just something else! Led Zeppelins Stairway To Heaven is a classic example, but here's another one you'd probably never heard of: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKu2fImgjJeBrZY

@@toreellenhanhj6726 Yeah, same here. Thanks for the recommendation; I dig it. Marchant has a great tone and aesthetic to his music. So, I heard this for the first time last night. I've played it about 15 times since then. It's as if my ears and soul need to check if the last time I heard it, it was actually real? The sound, the vibe from this, is like a hypnotic meditation in which you're trapped and you want to pour out an inner emotion, but you don't, because the strained notes and pitch of his voice express all that needs to be said. And there you are, seized and trapped, almost in a daze as you just simply.............listen........ and let it out. Incredible track. Underrated band. A new favourite. Simply epic.

It kept me from doing something really stupid, it pulled me back from the ledge so to speak. I’d been on the ledge, that razor sharp edge since my husband died. I finally let it go, I let go of the pain and hurt that was what I became. Thank you for such beautiful music and incredible lyrics. You guys don’t remind me of any band I’ve heard in the last 50 years....you are unique to yourselves. I love that. Blessing, love and light from an old hippie chick. Saw them last night in Detroit. What an incredible and powerful show. This song,...so much emotion when Andy sings this. I can relate to the lyrics. The highlight of the evening for me. Of course, Bed Head and The Gold really pumped the crowd. I will see them again, and again. Peace everyone!

Amazing. Manchester Orchestra is one of the best bands in existence. Their lyrics give you chills and their performances are anthemic, epic, and monumental. This band is on a higher level than others. Black Mile To The Surface is a masterful album and I can't wait to hear what they do next.

This song is for real. What is “your silence” what stops you from completing your journey. You could Take me back, take my place or just walk away with no reason. You don’t need me, that’s easy to see, I can live with that. You have set me free from my own chains. Moving forward, I win and you loose. Everyday I wake up thank God I am free and for what it’s worth, the truth will always be my silence.

This is absolutely beautiful. I hurt inside for both of these men. Nothing saddens me more than thinking of others depressed so bad they even think of ending it. You all are important? It can get better. I suffer at times but I will not let my health sadden me to where I take myself away from others I wish to help stand back up.

OsidiustheEmphatic Manchester Orchestra is one of those rare artists that are 1000 times better live than studio recorded. The album version is already amazing but If you go to a MO concert expecting to hear them play the album version of your favorite songs you will quickly find out that your not going to get that, instead you are going to receive the album version magnified to a whole new realm , raw, and better then could have ever thought possible. It's as if they go into the studio, wrote and record the greatest songs ever, then go on tour and every night fine tune them on the fly, as if to say "well yea you have the album and have listened to it a million times so we are going to give you something better than that and it's for your show and your show only" . Lol There is just something that they are able to do live that can't be captured in a studio. If you are lucky enough to see them live with their hometown buddy band O'BROTHER then you are in for the most amazing treat ever, guaranteed to have hair raising goosebumps and great vibes from start to finish. They don't dramatically change the songs and revision them like COPE vs HOPE, but just slightly hear and there so it's like no matter how many times you listened to the songs it's like your hearing and experiencing it for the first time all over again. I have gotten to see MO many many times over the years from the regular touring shows to the annual The Stuffing shows since they are from my hometown, so I for one know. Amazing artist.

Why do I deserve the science To feel better about you At a loss I lost my cool I denied that I found you I tried to be a basket case I did not surprise you I'm trying to find a signal fire Let me know when I should move But you, amplified in the silence Justified in the way you make me bruise Magnified in the science Anatomically proved that you don't need me Why do I decide the space? I was mourning after you I was lost and lost my shape There was nothing I could do I don't want to waste away It was all I gave to you Take me back and take my place I will rise right up for you But you, amplified in the silence Justified in the way you make me bruise Magnified in the science Anatomically proved that you don't need me All the while you waste away, you're asking "Did I really need another one to take me down?" Everybody knows it's something that you had to live with darling Nobody's gonna tear you down now There is nothing you keep, there is only your reflection There is nothing you keep, there is only your reflection There was nothing but quiet retractions And families pleading, "Don't look in that cabinet There's far more bad than there's good, I don't know how it got there" That was something your father had burned in me 20 hours out of Homestake eternity You can go anywhere but you are where you came from Little girl, you are cursed by my ancestry There is nothing but darkness and agony I can not only see, but you stopped me from blinking Let me watch you as close as a memory Let me hold you above all the misery Let me open my eyes and be glad that I got here Little girl, you are cursed by my ancestry There is nothing but darkness and agony I can not only see, but you stopped me from blinking
