This is a fan-made remix of the song by Gary Numan called "Down In The Park" that appeared on his album called "Replicas" that was released in 1979. I remember looking though someone's record collection many years ago and finding this album. I put it on the turntable straight away and was transfixed by the song. It sounded so futuristic and other worldly at the time and it still does for me. Gary Numan was a true pioneer of the electronic sound and had some of the biggest synth rock hits of all time at the end of the 1970s and the very early 1980s. He's a true legend and it is great to see him still touring.
One thing I remember about Gary Numan is when David Bowie requested that Gary was removed from a studio and taken off a tv programme. Sounds totally unfair of David Bowie and perhaps he was a little jealous of Gary Numan - in the late 1970s, Gary Numan was doing what perhaps David Bowie should have been doing - who knows why David Bowie asked for Gary Numan to be removed, but the sad thing about it is I am sure Gary Numan was a David Bowie fan and would very much have liked to have met him. Normally, I think David Bowie got things right, but not on this occasion.
I have done this remix to understand this song in more detail and also to celebrate the majesty of one of Gary Numan's earliest songs. Thanks for the music Gary Numan. Where would we be without you?
