So true. My daughter was traumatized one day at the pond where we were fishing. There was a pretty mama duck with her ducklings swimming and out of nowhere comes this male dive bombing right into her, nearly drowning her the whole time. We thought he was attacking her, until he started grabbing behind her neck and trying to hold her down. He wouldn't leave her alone, and separated her from the babies, hurting one in the process. I'm not explaining it exactly how it happened, but it was horrific to see. Let's just say, the animal control ended up coming to pick up the orphaned ducklings later that day. The male still didnt leave the female either. Although its nature, the people there along with the rest of us wanted to kick that male. It's hard not to be sickened by what we witnessed.

Well I have watched for months mallard male following domestic white duck wherever she went and she was even getting him food from people who were throwing them bread. There were other mallards in the river but this mallard was always alone on the sidewalk with his true love...even when she was getting close to people.
