you can offer them frozen foods like brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, the little red reef plankton, through a feeding pipette. Running a refugium with a direct route into the tank(ie the spillway for the in sump refugium goes directly into the pump return compartment, or a hang on back refugium) will generally supply a steady stream of copepods into the display tank. Also if you add the right rockwork to the display tank, the pods can hide in and re-produce in a spot the mandarins can't eat em.

Friends, please check the link in the 'more info" section. If you breed 'pods in a lighted sump, refugium or dedicated tank and transfer some periodically to the main tank the Mandarins are capable of finding them and feeding on them without assistance (this is what they do every day in nature :-)

Before buying a Mandarin it is helpful to establish a population of 'pods in the main tank. If you do this then daily feeding is not necessary.

I thought you'd actually show how to feed them.... :( I really want one of these but not exactly sure how to maintain a steady supply of Amphipods ...

@siloex think of how you feed corals like use frozen misis shrimp and a syringe

@vanhalenman60 I got that but I was wondering more on how long do amphipods last and how much to feed per day....
@vanhalenman6014 жыл бұрын
@siloex well they breed and stay there but the fish hunts the misi or ampdshipod
