I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana USA - a beautiful city with lovely people. Yet it is often called the "murder capital of the world". Growing up I have always been very cautious of my surroundings. There are certain neighborhoods you avoid and you don't do stupid things like walk around late at night alone looking like you have money. The first time I went to Beijing, some elderly ladies I was traveling with wanted to visit the Pearl Market. The clerk at the hotel said "It's only a few blocks away, just walk there." And they did, and they were safe. In fact, they went every night and I even joined them. To me, THAT is freedom.

Do you know if you remove two group of ethinc people from USA populatoin,there would be a HUGE plummet in homicides, armed robbery, and physical assaults? This what the Leftist media that is controlled by Demcratic party hides from you. This what started the policy of the police and news media will never describe the physical attributes of the person to you anymore. The USA now protects the criminals merely becuase of their skin color. Take all the major cities. New York City will never tell you the ethnic break down of homicides (unless you huntdown the website of the New York City Police Department which I did). Well, on average each year, the homicides by combination of Whites, Asians, is going to be less than 7% on average. Whites are 37.5% of NYC and Asians are 14.5%. That is, that two population is 52% of NYC but they rarely commit homicides, armed robbery or assaults. It is like that in all the major cities but this fact is hidden.

Isn’t it interesting how most of the interviewees qualify their answers with “but I’ve never been there,” or “correct me if I’m wrong,” or “I don’t know if my understanding is fair.” To me, that’s a great indication of self-awareness and a degree of media literacy. I think that’s a big contrast with Americans these days, where so many people are not just wrong, but confidently wrong. Add the lack of self-reflection on to the pile of growing problems in today’s America. 🙃

Yeah, I was also surprised by that. As an American I think it's very uncommon for Americans to call their parents or grandparents by their names. I think with grandparents and (at least where I'm from) even aunts and uncles, it might be pretty common to include their first name with their family title, like Grandpa John or Aunt Linda. Maybe that's what they meant?
@MandarinCorner22 ай бұрын
I believe she was referring to elders who are not immediate family members like parents or grandparents. In Chinese culture, we address older individuals whom we do not know personally as "grandpa," "grandma," "uncle," "auntie," and so forth. Similarly, we refer to older siblings as "gege" (elder brother) or "jiejie" (elder sister) and avoid calling them by their first names, as that would be seen as disrespectful.

As a retired US Naval Vet of 30 years, let me just state for the record, that the US DOES instigate wars, overthrow governments (indirectly) and create chaos around the world for military, political and financial gain. However, having said that, not all conflicts are created or instigated by us. Many times there is internal strife and the current government asks for our help because we are either allies or to help stabalize the economy. There are many misconceptions about the US. While the US is in no way perfect, is lacking in many areas, we do have many decent aspects as well. The Media (US and international) tend to either sensationalize or exagerate many things. So much so that even many of our own citizens can't tell whats true or not. So when people make broad sweeping statements, one must first understand that perception is relative, even within ones own country. When making assumptions or forming opinions based solely on limited information one is ALWAYS bound to wrong in many aspects.

I agree. Americans are not all bad, just as the Chinese are not all bad. But the Chinese respect other nations, while the Americans do not. The Chinese do not invade other countries (at least, not since 1979), while the Americans do. The Chinese don't weaponize their currency to punish other countries with sanctions. The Chinese don't demonize the Americans with lies about genocide, forced labor, concentration camps, and so on. The Chinese don't interfere in the internal politics of Hawaii, California, or Texas to try to encourage secession. The Chinese don't risk World War III or nuclear war by fighting a proxy war in Ukraine. None of this is sensationalized nor exaggerated. It's just the truth. But I like the American people. In person, they tend to be friendly and hospitable and generous. They produce great entertainment like movies, music and television. And I deeply sympathize with them because their government neglects them by allowing homelessness, gun violence, poor health care, etc. I sympathize with their war vets who deserve much better for their service. I wish the Americans the best, but I'm not optimistic because of their politics. Sorry, I have to call it as I see it.

From the horrific violence and threat of violence towards people of other races (Asians, Chinese, Indian, Muslims, Arabs, Black, African, Latino) it is the most racist country on earth. Not to mention they wage brutal and genocidal wars on others who try to go against their economic or military systems. The information propaganda is the worst, they paint every other nation as "non democratic" as a way to later then instigate war against them. Everything they say is true about the divide between rich and poor, everyone is worked to the bone to the point no one has any time to care about anyone else. This is even worse for immigrants who basically have little rights and are threatened by their employers and colleagues by being fired and losing their visa then being deported. Looking at data, the U.S. has given billions in humanitarian aid around the world, either through government, non-profit organizations, and individually. I love how your comment completely ignores the bigger picture. Sure, the U.S. gives billions in aid, but it extracts trillions from poorer nations through unfair trade, debt, and corporate exploitation. Aid is just a band-aid to cover up the damage caused by the very systems the U.S. helps enforce. If the U.S. were truly 'the most giving,' it wouldn’t be profiting off the same countries it claims to help. Get your head out of your ass.

I lived in China on business for two years. I often felt like a celebrity (I am not). Everyone said Hello, although few spoke much English. I was handed babies to take a picture in the park several times, and often was asked to take a picture with young people. The people were very nice, many of the women were very attractive, and I really enjoyed my time there. When they learned I was “mei guo ren” (American), eyes would always light up.

meiguo is such a generous name for the US. doesnt it feel cool to say you are from "beautiful country"?
@RepublicanmouseАй бұрын
@ Yes, I was surprised when I learned that the US was known in China as “beautiful country”.

@@Republicanmouse the names are so poetic! they seem to hate japan with a passion, but they still call it "country of the origin of the sun".

As an American, I find their opinions quite funny to listen to. They think American education is good? 🤣🤣Our transportation is good? Trains in China look wayyy cooler. Also, when asked on the appearances of Americans, tall, white, and tall noses? lolll And then when you ask where they got that info from, 小红书 or 抖音 or movies come to mind. Those social medias are literally CHINESE social medias 🤣🤣🤣(like will they're really be that many "authentic" Americans on there), and movies affectively misrepresent America. However, I am not blaming them for thinking in this way. It makes sense. All I'm saying is that I just find it entertaining.

Very good content Eileen. 🙏 Well done as always. It’s funny to hear people talk about the US starting wars everywhere. Want a piece of reality? Everybody wants to live here. I know many many Chinese who fully intend to stay here in the US. Nothing against China, but everyone likes our freedoms and everyone knows how kind Americans truly are, and how fair our system truly is. Any idea of anything else is pure propaganda. Btw, the PRC threatens Taiwan everyday, as well as the Philippines and nearly all of its border nations. Spinning the war thing back to the US is pure gaslighting. Once again Eileen, thanks for the great study content 💫

I enjoy your educational interviews but unfortunately they do not benefit beginners

Somehow I feel like our opinions would be less positive if you did this interview in the USA...

Aww that’s all cute,,,you guys are way too generous and are too kind. Yall know humility... because do you even know what the avg Americans say about the Chinese? My comment would get deleted within 30 seconds just conveying the truth. 😆

Great interview, but they need to understand more about America, in order to do so, travel abroad more often to those countries that have google and Meta just a few.

That's nonsense. I've never seen kids call their grandparents by their first name. She saw it on television and believes that it is wide spread.
