I am so serious. You really think project people are gonna do this? NO. And will they be punished? NO.

@@19irvingeveryone in the projects are not like what you say! I live in the projects and I bag my trash right and for your dumb idiotic comment, there are recycling bins and composting already happening here in the Bronx where I’m from. We have a garden as well. Stop trying to talk down on people generally just because it’s projects. There are really hard working people in the projects as well so STFU 🤬

@@DylarianTalks cause it is stupid. Do some research. The “recycling” the city claims to do is a lie. It all just goes to a landfill.

it'll attract so many rats and bugs to apmts and the dumpsters on the streets. the smell will also be awful. Decomposing food matter is one of the worst smells. Also, what will restaurants and fast food places do? Are they going to make customers sort their food scraps? Are they going to make fast food employees pick through the trash to separate food scraps? Seems like a biohazard to the workers.

Great idea but as a Porter/Handyman in NYC, ppl are too lazy & dumb to separate their garbage and waste. I work in Hudson Hts and I find it crazy how people that are “smart”, they don’t know how to recycle and separate their waste. 😂😂 we have pictures in my building and people still don’t get it. 😂

Compost collection was originally announced as a new service to New Yorkers who were inclined to participate. Shortly after, the City Council passed a law making it mandatory with non compliance punishable by fines. Absolutely no thought was given to the difficulties that it would create for small apartment building owners who self-manage and have no employees. It is outrageous. The city maintains collection bins for people who exist to participate. If the goal is for more people to do it, they should devise some educational messaging and increase the number of collection bins as the popularity grows. To dictate that everyone must participate, while it involves an unpleasant task and/or the hiring of someone to manage it on a weekly basis is unreasonable.

I believe in composting. I immediately put composted material in a can in my yard. But I can't see keeping food scraps around for a week in an apartment. It's just going to attract vermin. Do apartments have outdoor bins where people can dump the stuff daily?
