Georgetown Speedway's Blast At The Beach!

I remember being one of the first people in the stands at Grandview speedway. I was a teenager when my uncle took up racing a late model car. It’s was like hobby stock today. Every other Saturday my father was his head mechanic. No one younger than 18 was allowed in the pits. Unless you were a driver of course. This was in the late 1970s and early 80s.

I was there running with Delmarva Charger cars. I will say this, we were fortunate to run our feature first! Only the bottom groove was smooth. If you got out of the groove, it felt like you were running in a corn field! It's no wonder Mike and Billy had a hard time moving up from their starting positions. The 3rd and 4th turns ruts were unreal and there was no outside groove. On a bright note though, your cars came home in 1 piece! I would bet the rain they had overnight and damp conditions throughout the day didn't help the situation with the track surface. It was also a very well run night as far as keeping the show moving! I will definetly race there again!

First Delaware race for this Pennsylvanian to see Becca........ pack the track ?? Shortly all the cars were lapping the International, a Legends, followed by Lance Dewease in the 461 Brickmobile, followed by a # 43 1951 Dodge Little Lincoln division in red and blue Richard Petty colors! Push Truck😮

There’s ruts in the race track ruts and that’s not good because um I also want to ask you how come you guys grind the wheels on the hours is it because he hast to groove them a certain way at each track?

When you guys go to the racetrack, OK, you sometimes do you sometimes drive the truck to the speedway or two or do you drive your truck? I’m at C, your brother and your husband you guys both have your own trucks to drive to the Speedway with cars in or do you just go and somebody drives a Vehicles in for you guys and then you’re coming opposite cars

Watched this race on Flo Racing . Just when I think I can tell the cars apart I realize I am wrong. What are the cars with the tall square sail panels ? I thouht they were the Big Blocks !

602 crate sportsman!

Normally they are the 602 crate Sportsman. But they are not required for the STSS. So that is why most, if not all, of the cars didn't have them. I didn't see any in the pits that had the sail panels on.???

All I can say is I had emergencies come up the past two years for the Port show that I couldn't attend. If the third happens this year Im done going to races period. IHAHA I WANT TO BE AT THIS RACE BADLY to if anything finally meet Mike in person for the first time. Hang out in the pits for a little before warm ups etc. You guys both made it through this race without any damage or contact so thats a win all in its own as it appeared to be criss cross or smash. Surprised Billy didn't say anything cuz from video it looked like he had a bit of help moving up the track to let Stew by just my observation though haha. I will say I dont like to see Mandee driving from Georgetown, DW to NY by herself haha, Me no likey that at all haha. Glad you guys made it home fine as well. See you guys at the next race. Ill have a coconut surprise for Mandee at Port this year so stay tuned lol.. Mike shhhhhh dont tell er what it is. Let her in suspense lol.
