Here's an updated version of this video: In gen 8, more specifically in Legend Arceus (excuse me, Arkoos) we got the Hisuian variants of Samurott and Qwilfish and Overqwil, the evolution of Hisuian Qwilfish. Off these, Hisuian Samurott would make the biggest impact. The new move was Ceasless Edge, the signature move of Hisuian Samurott, with 65 BP and 90 acc which has an increased critical hit ratio. It also leaves the target with splinters for 4 turns (strong style), 2 turns (agile Style), or 3 turns (otherwise). Now in gen 9 it sets up one layer of spikes on the target's side of the field and doesn't have high chances of critical hits anymore. Gen 9: the new pokémon were Meowscarada, Lokix, Mabostiff, Bombirdier, Kingambit, Brute Bonnet, Iron Jugulis, Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, Chi-Yu and Roaring Moon. Off these Meowscarada, Kingambit and Chien-Pao would go on to make the biggest impact. Especially Chien-Pao who got banned to Ubers thanks to its incredible speed and incredible attack, powered by its ability Sword of Ruin, reducing the defense by all pokémon in the field by 25%. The new moves were Ruination which is the signature move of the Teasure of Ruin which deals damage equal to 50% of the opponent's remaining HP, Kowtow Cleave is for Kingambit with 85 BP that never misses, and Comeuppance which returns 1.5 times the damage dealt by the foe's last attack no matter if it's physical or special. The specialist is Giacomo, the boss of Team Star's Segin Squad. Please like this comment so more people can know this info.

Fun fact: The dark type has a really weird name in german. The regular german term for dark is "finster" or "dunkel". But rather than that being the type's german name, whoever was in charge of translation at that time instead came up with a new word. They took the prefix "un" (as in words like "unclear" "unimportant" etc.) and put it in front of "Licht", which is german for light. So the german name of the type is "Unlicht", which literally translates as "unlight". And yes, in german it sounds just as ridiculous as it does in english.

As a fan of JRR Tolkien's work, I think 'unlight' is a pretty cool, if kind of odd, choice of words. In the Silmarillion, unlight is used to describe the webs spun by Ungoliant, a sort of primeval evil spider creature. It denotes not just the absence of light, but more so negative light, something that goes beyond just darkness and is more of a void that can't be seen through.

parting shot is very prominent on incineroar in the vgc, it hits both of the foes with an intimidate and then uses parting shot to switch out while weakening a pokemon like coalossal or dragapult that usually dynamaxes and then benefits off of being hit with a supereffective move and weakness policy-ing. it would mean that by the time the weakness policy activated, the boosts would just bring it back to neutral.

Dark-type WAS a great foil for most Psychic types, so imagine my surprise when they incidentally buffed a few psychic types by making them part Fairy. This made some of the best casual psychic-type pokemon both good and bad at the same time. Good because now they can resist to Dark-types. Bad because that means that the Poison-type (a type that Psychics use to brush off easily) generally overpowered as those Psychic pokemon that became part Fairy have lost their resistances/immunities to Poison-types, and all it takes is one Poison-type move, and your Psychic/Fairy type is dead.
@RabblesTheBinx2 жыл бұрын
Steel is a better counter for Psychic/Fairy than Poison is, since Psychic resists Poison, which neutralizes the Fairy-type's weakness. Plus, Steel-types resist both STAB types, while most Poison-types are still weak to Psychic.

a favourite standout for me is always Absol, I love their design and "Gimmick" of having a lot of high-crit and steller attack stats with Super Luck. Add in Night Slash, Psycho Cut for coverage, and other high-crit moves, give them one of the like, 3 crit-boosting held items, and you have a critical hit machine that requires basically no setup to use, and is flatly immune to one of the best types in the game. I've had a Super Luck Absol carry me through some otherwise hard fights just with his strong stat, high crit, and pretty good coverage Sure he gets walled by high Defense pokemon and those with Shell/Battle Armour, but the latter are very infrequent and since he needs no setup, Absol is easy to swap out when encountering a physical wall.

My biggest gripe regarding the Dark type was the fact that in the Johto games, despite the fact that none of the Gen I Pokemon were retyped as Dark, most of the Gen II Dark types could not be found in Johto. In Gold and Silver, your only option for STAB Dark-type moves was Umbreon, whose stats were built for bulk. This was because the other Johto Dark types were only obtainable either in Kanto (Route 7 for Houndour, Routes 7, 16, and 18 for Murkrow) or at and around Mt. Silver (Sneasel and Larvitar). This was changed in Crystal so that Sneasel would be obtained in Ice Path. In HGSS, Sneasel was back to being only obtainable around Mt. Silver, while Murkrow could be found in the Johto Safari Zone. However, you couldn’t use Honchkrow in a Johto play-through since the Dusk Stone could only be obtained after getting the National Dex in the post-game.
@jaretco64233 жыл бұрын
Yeah. And the part u mentioned that u couldn't evolved some Gen. 2 or Gen. 1 mons into an Gen. 4 mon kinda makes no sense. Some like Paloswine, Tangela, Lickylicky and others can evolved into an Gen. 4 mon in Johto cause they can learn Ancientpower or other moves that requires to evolved by an Move Tutor.
@user-gt5dq1lm3q3 жыл бұрын
@@jaretco6423 Exactly. The only Gen 4 Pokemon that you could obtain in HGSS before beating the league were the ones that evolved via level up with a specific move (Ambipom via Double Hit, Lickilicky via Rollout, and Yanmega, Tangrowth, and Mamoswine via AncientPower). If they needed an item to evolve, like Honchkrow or Misdreavus, it was not available until the post game, and if they needed a location to evolve, like Leafeon or Glaceon, you had to trade them in from the Sinnoh games because the locations didn’t exist at all in HGSS.

+001 If only Gamefreak embraced more into the fangame/romhack community instead of trying to shut them down (and yes I'm aware they can do the latter, calm your jets) they would've definitely had some cool creative ideas for Dark-type gyms. Heck they could've sorta taken a page out of Mikey's book here and made it where the evil team are Fairy-type users and the Gym are Dark type users that are constantly at war with the game's evil team. As a means of subverting the audience's perspective of how they look at light and darkness. There are other ideas I have but those would cause the age rating to bump up a couple notches. Also I like how before Marnie took over as Gym Leader, the Dark-Type gym is the only gym to not Gigantamax. I guess it's Gamefreak's weird way of still trying to Dark-Type the de facto stand-alone type.
