This gives us a fun idea for a challenge! Can you beat pokemon red/blue with just pokemon? No weapons, no armor, no magic, no limit breaks, no dual/triple techs, no job system, no sphere grid, and no shouts. Just pokemon in battle. Consumable items like potions and pokeballs are also allowed. Obviously it would be super difficult with all those restrictions, but it might just be possible.

I recently did a re-playthrough of Platinum (cartridge) and holy crap my shiny luck was about the same as yours! My fourth (yup... 1-2-3-4!) came outside on Route 225 in a Fearow. Krickitot on Eterna Forest, Marill on Rt. 212 while grinding, and Wooper in the Great Marsh my first time through it. I'm still gobsmacked over it.
