A cool looking fleet if you ask me. I would love to see extra ships added to this fleet. Also I would love to see more diversity in Mandalorian ship designs other than just always seeing the Kom’rk & Fang Fighters. Which both the Fang Fighters & Kom’rk are still great ship designs though.

The 546 Cruiser, definitely looks to have more weapons than just the 4 turbolasers. In the Mandalorian S2 Art book, the cross-section showing the TIE launch tube seems to have a dual laser cannon on either side of the central spine, right above the forward hangar, and in some of the renders you can see smaller spikes sticking out from along the side rim that could be either weapons or sensors (4 on each side at least). Seems likely it has some point defence weapons to hold its own against fighters. Another thing to notice is that the Kom'rk in the Mandalorian seems smaller, at 29.6m long, not 60m, and around a 12 person troop bay, but this smaller size might be more advantageous in fighter combat.

If I recall, there are two different sub types of the Gauntlet. One is the smaller fighter variant seen in The Mandalorian, and the other is the larger transport referenced here.

They're best bet against an ISD would be a delaying action, where the Gozantis and cruiser are evacuated while Fangs and Gauntlets cover their withdrawal. The cruiser and transports would be the priority targets for any bombers and the ISD, so getting them clear would need to be the priority. The Fangs could handle the TIE fighters, while the Gauntlets land Mandos on the ISD to take out critical systems like the shield bulbs. Additionally, the ship's solar ionization reactor, engines, and bridge could be equally valid targets. Once the shields are down and the TIES dealt with, the cruiser and transports could return to finish off the ISD. I think a full boarding action would be out of the question, as ISDs have an ENORMOUS crew. In fact, the "Rebel Handbook" suggests that it could take MONTHS just to secure one. However, the Mandalorians are much better trained and equipped than the Rebels were, and they are willing to do things the Rebels were not, like defenestrate the bridge crew with a breaching charge and then cutting off all life support.

I don't know if we're gonna see an ISD in the next episode. I honestly expected one to be revealed earlier when the Ties took out Bo's castle but that was subverted in favor of the base planetside. However the reinforcement Ties had to be brought to Mandalore somehow, so who knows maybe there could be an ISD or a fleet of smaller vessels still hiding in the system. But I'm not putting my money on Thrawn showing up. Not a lot of people picked up that they have a pretty sizable amount of Fangs available, and they shouldn't have much trouble with the Ties. If anything I'd be worried about those Gozantis taking losses. I guess the 546 or whatever could have some issues but it seems like either it's a one-off or heavily modified. After all, it was Gideon's flagship so I'd expect it to have some reinforcements or modifications to suit that role.

I don't think it was his flagship, I think they're just spread thin so his ISD is just hidden somewhere docked. Somthing tells me he has an ISD and a few of those cruisers. If not then Gideon is about to be in some major trouble. He's one of the major war lords so I can't imagine him having so little, he's smart enough not to show his cards all at once.

@@Macky4941 There's plenty of evidence to imply the 546 was his flagship at that time. First of all, it's a much larger scaled up version of an Arquitens with a lot of extra stuff goin on that sets it apart from a standard version. Then there's the fact that he had the whole contingent of dark troopers on that as well as Grogu. It was an important vessel in his forces for sure... something you might want to have on an ISD instead if you happened to have one. Gideon seems a lot more like an evil lair type of guy to me, as this ep. showed us. I do wonder why he needed the extra Tie Interceptors & Bombers if Bo & Dinn took out like, 8ish combined between I/Bs. From the looks of it, he had a whole ISD-sized compliment of Ties there.

Have to agree. I don't think we'll see another functional ISD until the Chimera and Thrawn. I did think Gidions new flagship would be a Carrier though, given all the Interceptors and Bombers, and was a tiny but disappointed we got another planetary base.

So after this video, I thought of a possible weak-spot for the Mando fleet - Moff Gideon has a squadron/s of his Dark Trooper variant (24/48?) and they launch a boarding party to overtake the Lt Cruiser and attempt to control the bridge. In some ways he may have hinted at that in the S307 episode. (Unless he was just referring to "conventional" fighters/bombers.)

Fun video. Still hoping the Arquitens will have "pop-out" weapon systems to closer match the firepower we see in SW Squadrons. Midline trench turbolasers or concussion missile launchers plus a few point defence guns over the docking tubes. Some of these are even shown in the Art of The Mandalorian book Do hope most of this fleet survives to take on the Chimera in the Star Wars Mando Avengers movie. Would love the dreadnought to be a big part of that movie too.

Fangs out-class TIEs not because of their speed but because of their maneuverability due to their wing and vectored thrust design. Not so sure about TIE Interceptors that are more maneuverable than regular TIEs, but these things could out-maneuver A-Wings so I'd expect they'd have the advantage. With 36 Fangs (I didn't realize they had that many!) I wouldn't be betting on the small force of TIE Interceptors Gideon has on hand to protect his bombers for long enough to take out the light cruiser and Gazantis. I don't think an ISD is going to be a factor unless something really surprising happens. There hasn't been any indication that Gideon has one or that any of the other warlords would be coming to Gideon's assistance.

Even at full strength I would not be backing 1 squadron of Interceptors and 1 squadron of Bombers against that fleet. I'd be sure Gideon has some trick up his sleeve unless he's just relying on the element of surprise and whatever is providing that electrical interference keeping the Mando fleet from seeing those TIEs coming until it's too late (which to quote Tony Stark strikes me as being "not a great plan")

it does seem that the Imperials are keeping ship numbers quiet so it is entirely possible they are going for surprise win vs the Mando fleet so expect lots of fighters coming from the surface with maybe a cruiser and some frigates jumping in for the kill. i would not be surprised to see X-wings and such popping in as well

Ive recently calculated both death squad (darth vaders fleet), the 7th fleet and the loathal fleet and there ground forces trawns fleet has about 1,000 more turbolasers over 5x the ground forces but darth vader has about 5x the ties (number of tunolassers dosent count the 12 arquatins and 9 gozonties but does include there ties) The loathal fleet has less tiesand turbolaser then both the 7th and death squad and slightly less ground forces then death squad. So even if the emporer didn't mean it he gave darth vader the biggest middle finger of a fleet as thrawn would kick his metal butt in anything other then a dual

The fleet looks really amazing and works well for a fleet they cobbled together, especially with the Flagship being Moff Gideon's old 546 Cruiser. That is a poetic use of the Flagship of Din's old enemy for the previous seasons. But I hope in the future we get to see the Mandalorians build and use the ships they had from Empire at War Forces of Corruption. Those being the Star Viper Fighter, Crusader Gunship, Vengeance Frigate, Aggressor Star Destroyer, and Keldabe Battleship. Those would be fantastic to see in live action and would make the Mandalorians one of the greatest powers in the galaxy.

His strategies and tactics are rarely described at all other than in the briefest cursory tactic name drop. Thrawn wins because he is written to win and then says "that was super smart of me, to be smart, you wouldnt understand because you aren't smart, but trust me, im super smart and I won because of my smartness"

However, in a T.V. show, we can SEE the plan in action, so we don't NEED it explained. We don't NEED the Thrawn's tactics at Atallon explained, because we can SEE what he is doing.

I think the reason they never took an ISD is the crew size. The rebels used smaller less crew demanding vessels because they couldnt man ships like the venator on a large scale. Taking one for yourself isn't the main issue, its not just being a sitting duck for other ISDs

I don’t see the Mandolorians capturing an ISD ever. There are 9700 Stormtroopers on board. That’s basically a small army that they would be up against and they would stand no chance. I also heard that the Bridge Crew can Overload the Reactor and Scuttle the ship in case they were actually in any kind of danger of being captured.

It seems to me a remote controlled hyper drive or even just a remote controlled group of thrusters are potentially the most potent weapon in SW. Imagine remotely attaching a hyper drive to an ISD and just poof, it's out of the battle, who cares where it ends up lol

This is actually a valid tactic in the game Space Engineers. Yes the jump drive is costly, but it jumps an enemy ship backwards and then starts siphoning off power to recharge it. Even if they jump back in straight away that's 2 minutes the enemy DONT have a critical ship in thier formation

The problem with this is hyper drives need to be proportionally large relative to the thing they propel through hyperspace. Good luck getting a hyperdrive close enough to an isd to attach it with the hyperdrive unscathed.

The reason no one really uses ISD's is because of the astoundingly high crew requirements. It so absurdly high that you can think of it as a security feature. It's 37.000 Crew btw, wheras a MonCala MC80 is only 5.000. In fact an MC80 has a maximum capacity of 10.000, so you couldn't even get that many people on board. A Arquitens-Command Cruiser has around 750. Obviously both are effectivly unattainable for the Mandalorians.

Don't they have Din Djarin's N1 starfighter too? I wonder where his ship is. It must be somewhere, and if it isn't on board the 531 or whatever it was, it's probably left on Navarro. Still, it's a fine little fleet, even if it isn't the best of fleets. It's not the strongest or the best fleet, but it is enough for the Mandos, for now. There's no doubt that the Mandalorians has allies in the NR, Boba Fett and Fennec Shand. I do wonder who will come and help our favorite gang of Mandos. Is it Boba and Fennec? Or the New Republic? Both? Or someone else? Someone or something no one ever expected? The questions. We can just guess and ask, Dave and Jon won't say anything. The rest of LucasFilm and Disney doesn't say anything either. There's no doubt that the season three finale will be good, even if the rest of the season was sloppy at best. It was still a good season, even if it didn't focus as much on Din ad the other two seasons.

I just keep thinking that if he had access to a Star destroyer, he would have used it by now. As for the tie fighters coming in, the first thing they need to do is to take out those damned bombers! Those little bastards have enough torpedoes that they could wreck the 546 in no time. Another thing too is that we still don't know who the spy is. If it is the armorer, she could cause problems, and that goes double if those PlanetSide mandalorians aren't as injured or sick as we were led to believe.

the fleet is deffenetlly well equiped for what they and the mandilorians as a hole do, uncunventinal war fair but i doi think that they should add some more combat oriented ships and if they cna capture one, a imperial star destroyer. if they add one, it could be helpful if Asoka and the New republic ask for the mandolorian's help agesnst thrawn, especally sins ( and Spoiler alert) the 546 crusier that was the Mandalorian flagship ended up going down and takeing the imperial base with it.

I think the Mandos would have sold the TIE's, it's not their style to fly inferior ships (except Din, of course). Ships need supply's, replacement parts, crews need paying. Selling off the TIES would be my preference over using them when I have Fangs to hand.

I disagree. The spinning mechanisms of the Fang does not increase the ships ability or targeting, its still the same cone of fire. It only makes the ship heavier, less manuverable, and more prone to break down and battle damage. Hardly a good trade off when simply slewing side to side or normal dogfight maneuvering accomplishing the same shot spread. The fight against the A-wings is again pure fiction. A wings running considerably faster can zip in and out of combat range of the Fangs quite easily and match them in maneuverability. On the stats alone the Fang loses, even against TIE Fighters that are faster and more maneuverable. A squadron of TIEs firing head on can delete a Fang formation just as effectively, especially as they have heavier laser cannons. Same philosophy applies to the kom'rks.

What else has a lot of nasty secrets and surprises is an IG assassin droid, and they turned one into a baby jumper for a character that already had a transport that let them float, far faster and more flexibly than before, just to justify the existence of the Babu Frick things. This fleet will probably get Worf'ed in some massively disappointing C&P battle at this rate. I'm not hopeful for a good conclusion after the Sequelification of the series that used to understand their footing.
