The way she keeps so carefully listening to him while doing her fiddle parts and the supporting vocal always amazes me.

Oh Mandolin Orange is on my list of young people echoing our roots, Ruth Moody and Wailing Jenny’s, Gillian Welch, Trampled By Turtles, Dead South, the list is long and great, I really thought for a few years we had lost a generation, instead the reward has been so rich.

Being seriously hooked on these two for some years, it was a real pleasure this summer to see them (all 5) live, and say hi to Emily- one charming lady. Totally confirmed my suspicions. As expected, they made a lot of new friends/fans. IMO they give hope.

Just goes to show, good music is still out there. You just have to look a little harder to find it.
@jacquesblaque77287 жыл бұрын
"Look harder"? I think not, there is so much available, if you know whereabouts to look, and where to avoid.
@thestraydawgs6 жыл бұрын
You are totally right. To find good music now, you need to be a searcher. Not on mainstream radio, not on TV, BUT it is out there. There are thousands of fantastic undiscovered and unheard musicians and songwriters. It's almost like we have reverted to the old days of passing down songs and stories from one village to another. Just now, it is on the internet, on KZbin, or at little local radio stations. Thank God there are a few left.

MANDOLIN ORANGE is bloody brilliant - duo, quintet, whatever! I discovered this band by chance about 2 months ago. I'm South African - I live in Durban, on the east coast - and nobody to whom I have spoken knows of them. I've tried 1 major chain record store - blank fucking looks from a young dude who probably thinks that rap ain't crap!

LIFE ON A STRING If all this is easy and all that we need we’ve fallen behind, we’ve fallen behind you can dig all you like and make a big pile and sing all the while, and sing all the while But you’re just a boy who strummed the right chord and I’m just a boy who gave an ear write, it’s alright, I’m shedding my skin instead of these tears Swimming alone and torn in between life in a dream or life on a string living atop our own little hills perched for the kill, we’re perched for the kill and you’re just a boy who strummed the right chord and I’m just a boy who gave an ear write, it’s alright, I’m shedding my skin instead of these tears If love was the light first seen at our birth and then all the earth, and then all the earth how can it fall so far behind try to remind me, and I’ll try to remind But you’re just a boy who strummed the right chord and I’m just a boy who gave an ear write, it’s alright, write, it’s alright, write
