I think its great that you helped an unsighted player to improve. And in light of that fact, I encourage you to keep doing lessons exactly your way. Being as thorough as you are will no doubt benefit more players. I'm someone with not alot of extra time, so I just prefer a more efficient method of instruction. Congrats to you on helping out the blind with musical growth as well as anyone else who has improved through your vids.

I appreciate the note - I really do, it's something I struggle with - how best to present the lessons. It was a huge note in many ways for me personally - very humbling for something we take for granted. I have hearing loss and can "kinda' relate, but on the other hand I can put in my hearing aids to compensate.....I get some nasty comments about tuning my guitar, and I get it but again I have this loss so people just don't stop and think. Oh well we trudge on and I appreciate the adult conversation on something that may be improved ~ All My Best ~ Joe

Would you be willing to share your strumming pattern for this song? Thanks for the video! Much appreciated. Sheet music available online for this song all seem a little off to me, but your version seems to hit it just right.

Have been trying to teach myself mandolin for over 2 years. I heard this song on the radio and was wowed. Found your video and you taught me to play this song. First time ever that I've been able to put chords and lyrics together at the same time. Now Can you do one for Maggie May???
@gtrjoe190114 жыл бұрын
@wildsweetorange94 I agree, but not everyone has the same skill level and that's the great thing about the slider bar - you can Fast Foreward. So,considering what you paid for the lesson it's a pretty good deal......

This is great! Thanks for posting. One question, do you know the mandolin rift on Angel Dance played by Darrell Scott for Robert Plant and the Band of Joy. I love the song but it is hard to find any chords/tabs for it.

@@gtrjoe1901 thanks joe, I am a self taught guitar player and I use your lessons to learn songs I like. I'm looking for a mandolin reasonably priced to learn on. Something with a wood top not a laminate but I don't know anything about the makers and quality. Some seem really cheap and others wayout of my price range

while I do appreciate the tutorial here..I gotta say,... I just dont get, in so many of these type of lessons, why is it neccessary to describe each finger placement on each fret for each string?...I am looking right at a zoom in close up view of exactly what to do. It is so tedious and unnecessary except in the case of the odd chord or grip that obscures the camera. I mean this lesson isnt being done via the telephone or radio...I can see it!!!! It would make sense if the lesson was for someone who is blind to verbally describe each and every string, finger, fret...etc. Often I even see "tutorials" that spend half the time saying what not to do...ugh. Anyways just my opinion. No offense intended...just trying to offer some advice on how to make these video lessons more efficient on both sides.
@gtrjoe19018 жыл бұрын
Well your partially right about blind people - not everyone has the skills and the lessons are made for a broader audience - Quote from comment on Fat Bottom Girls Part 2 = Terry Sutherland1 year ago Duder... I hope you can understand how awesome you are by my comment. I am blind, and now I can play this song because of how you taught it. I've waited for this video for years. You've charged the confidence of a blind guy who struggles to learn guitar. I'm not good, but I'm better now because of you. You do God's work, my man! How is your opinion now? My Best ~ Joe
@imannonymous77076 жыл бұрын
Well easier would be calling open string letters and fret by number a 2 g3 etc It is a little annoying but I cant always see clearly ...but hey it's free...I ain't bitchin and he makes great song choices .you see this way people begin to learn their fretboard by note names
