The instruments are Combolins,invented and hand made by Roy Williamson of The Corries,it's a combination of a guitar,mandolin and another version is a combo of guitar and Spanish Bandurria. There is a musician called Benny Tetteh-Lartey who was inspired by Roy and his Combolins and made his own version called a Combuitar,check him out on KZbin,especially the song'Lift Your Wings'
