I have a now 25yr old son and I’d be nervous sending him out on deck at 18yrs old. If I had a daughter like Mandy I believe I’d be 10x’s more worried for her safety. I’m no crab fisherman, but any of those jobs on deck look like an accident waiting to happen….even in good weather 😐 Especially once fatigue sets in. I understand why so many die at sea each season 😐😞 It’s no joke.

I wasn't a big fan of the latest episode "The Crush of Winter" where Sig wanted to drop her off at the island to go home to get away from the ice storm. Her reaction to me shows that she can't wait soon enough for her dad to get out of that chair and it showed in that episode. She wants to be like Jake yesterday & the "I can't afford to go home this is my job" was telling. She wants it all now.

It's a difficult and unique situation they were in. As a father, I understand Sig's mindset. Sending Mandy home wasn't about her perse, it was about Mandy's infant daughter and Sig's first grandchild at home. There's a baby at home, and both the baby's parents and grandfather are on that boat, heading for bad weather.

She later threatened to go work with Jake if Sig did not let her run the boat and he sent her home only to return in Norway as a boat Captain for someone that was generous enough to lend her the boat to run & now her husband who was a deckhand is also running a boat Lol this all after firing Josh & casey from the show Lol.

Well, first off she wasn't the only woman on the show and secondly, she wanted to do what her dad's doing since she was a child, so why would he not take her with him in order to pass on his knowledge? Considering the education she chose, her professional knowledge about seafaring even surpasses that of her father, it's just the experience she lacked. I see no favoritism here, just someone who sticks to her goals.

Women dont belong anywhere near certain things, most notably high stress/highly physical jobs and combat. Sure there will be a few that can cut it, but I am not willing to risk my life for bullshit fake equity
