My late grandfather (Rest in peace) was a part of Tommy Coopers magic circle, and I didn’t know until he passed recently and we got all of his personal photos, and low and behold, there’s my grandad and Tommy, magicians capes and all. He always showed me magic tricks as a kid, just never knew! Blew my mind.

I remember Tommy, and also remember there were times when he didn't even need to say anything and STILL had the audience in fits of laughter. One of the funniest people on the planet in his time. I love your laugh too as it cheers me up when I hear it. Thanks young lady for being YOU.

True, I went to see him in a nightclub, the lights went down, stayed down, stayed down a bit longer, bit of nervous laughter, then more silence then Tommy from the darkness 'Where's the light switch?' He kept this up for 10 minutes before the lights went up and he appeared on stage. He had the audience in tears of laughter for all this time without even coming on stage. Genius

I saw a comedian once talk about being in the audience at a Tommy Cooper Show. The curtains opened and the stage was in darkness. Then there was Tommy's laugh. The audience laughed. Tommy said "It's dark in here" and the audience layghed even more. Then there were footsteps, a door opening and more footsteps and Tommy said "It's dark in here too!" The comedian said "the stage was in darkness for nearly 5 minutes, we hadn't seen Tommy, but already the audience was rolling in the aisles with laughter". That is how great a comedian he was.

Yes, I went to one of those shows in the Circus Tavern in Essex. No one on stage and the place in darkness. He had the audience in fits of laughter the whole time

Tommy got what they call "Bill-laughs". People just seeing his name on the front of the theatre would smile.

Many people will describe Tommy Cooper, but the bits to recall is that he was big, lumbering, awkward, and a highly skilled magician. He could cause laughter by pausing in a sentence as if he'd forgot why he was there, usually death to an act. The jokes were pretty much what would later be called 'Dad jokes' but everybody knew what was coming. When other comedians would copy his bits with Tommy's consent, you know how much respect he had. He was however, wracked with insecurity, and he needed a drink or two before he could go on, which became a problem, and his anxiety resulted in a heart attack at last.

My favourite Cooper moments were ‘spoon, jar, jar, spoon’ and the magic cloak (which, incidentally, is the same trick he was doing when he died) There is footage of his death somewhere on KZbin (or at least there was a few years ago). You could even hear his death rattle as he was being pulled through the curtain. I watched it out of morbid curiosity but wished I hadn’t. The audience were in hysterics because they all thought it was part of the act, but a number of friends and family watching at home knew it wasn’t. Friend and comedy writer Barry Cryer said that he knew it wasn’t part of the act straight away because it was the type of physical comedy that wasn’t his style. He looked I’ll from the start of the act so I don’t know why people thought it was a joke. At least the audience watching at home could have seen close enough at how pale, sweaty and unwell he was looking. Lots of people have said that he went the way he would have wanted. But people who knew him, including the comedian Bob Monkhouse, have said this is nonsense. Conversations had taken place at various times and all Tommy really wanted was to die peacefully at home with his family close by.

People used to ask fishmongers for the fish head for the cat (and get it for free). The joke here is that he asked for the fish head for the cat, but he had already said that he was buying whale meat. Imagine the size of the fish head!!!

I watched Tommy on the night he passed it was live tv, he slid slowly down to the floor then he was dragged under the curtain, people thought it was part of his act, only for the show to announce his passing RIP Tommy

I watched Tommy pass away on the TV it was terrible! Everyone thought it was part of the act. I remember seeing Tommy at local venue in the UK. He just walked on stage and before he spoke everyone burst out laughing! He was a legend RIP Tommy Cooper 😢❤

My favorite Tommy story is after he had made the fez (his hat) part of his act and he was well known for it and his famous catch phrase was "just like that!". He visited a market in Morocco and found a stall selling Fez hats. While he was looking, the stall holder said "just like that!", Tommy asked him why he had said that, and was told Every English person who saw the Fezs would say "Just like that" and Tommy was the only one who had not. I hope in that moment he realized how much he was loved by the country.

it was jimmy tarbuck who tried saving his life on the night he died , The ambulance was called but there were issues bringing backstage i heard sad ending but died doing what he loved . He had this fear that the audience wouldn`t find him funny anymore

Tommy Cooper's passing was terrible, but it's probably how he would have wanted to go, with the sound of his audience in stitches ringing in his ears. That joke was "sixpence worth of whale meat, and could we have the head as well for the cat". That would be one happy cat!

Sounds London-ish but he's actually Welsh. I think I watched him die on TV. Awful. Slumped down on the stage and got pulled through the curtain, everybody was still laughing. They didn't know he'd died in one second. One of my favourite jokes is "I went to the dentist last week - he said your teeth are fine, but your gums have got to come out".

Tommy was actually a very good magician but when he first started out he would occasionally have a trick go wrong. He noticed that the audience were pissing themselves laughing and a light bulb lit up in his head. He sometimes started a trick and pretends that it's going wrong and it ends up resolving with an outcome nobody expected. He was a member of the "magic circle" and one has to be a really good magician to be accepted. I watched a documentary on him and he and his wife lived in a very ordinary house. ✌❤🇬🇧

You're lucky with that skillet! For instance, Jennifer Love Hewitt got banged on her forehead with a metal chair - an accident when she decided to take a short cut underneath a table rather than walk around it! - and a massive blood blister came up the size of a golf ball. She was still shooting Ghost Whisperer at the time and they combed her bangs carefully over it. Could have got a fractured skull from either.

For sunburn: soak a flannel in cold water, place on sunburn until the water feels warm, repeat until the water stops getting warm. I learned about that almost 15 years ago and it's worked every time. Turns out the sunburn is still burning long after you get out of the sun and this takes away the pain and also limits how much damage it does.

The mosquito part sounded like how in my area every October, we have an influx of midges (cause my city is on Lake Erie). Which look like mosquitoes, but they aren't mosquitoes. 3:09 Yeah, there's video of him passing. I didn't want to watch it either (who wants to watch people die), but my curiosity gets the best of me sometimes, and I pulled it up after the last time you watched him. Because, so many people in the comments, in your last video of him, said they were watching it live on TV and that everyone thought it was part of the act, so I thought to myself "how exactly did that go down?" It's sad to think that there could have been doctors in the audience who didn't even pick up on the signs of someone actively dying.

As a pale face myself, I'm sorry to say there is nothing to be done about a bad sunburn except suffer through it. Keep out of the sun and moisturize like crazy for a week to 10 days, then enjoy being tan for about a week, and then spend another week peeling off the top layer of your epidermis like a snake.

I'm with you when it comes to cooking. I can't cook if either of my sisters are in the kitchen, they get in the way. Despite your mum whacking you with a pan, and your sunburn, if it's any consolation, none of it shows on camera. I know of someone with a head like an orange who would be curious if you now looked like the Elephant Man, but you don't.
