Pat McGrath is the best I tried, I’m 56 and I use it to set my eye lids and what ever is left I use under my eyes. I have had mine for over a year and use it every day.

A great video and appreciate you providing your top picks for each type. Have you considered doing a part two, taking your absolute favorite of each powder type and doing a tutorial, showcasing your method of application (exact preferred brush type or sponge and technique)? I know you do tutorials often for building the full face but if the tutorial was focused on the powder steps and more details shared, I would find value in that. Either way, thanks again for doing this one!

(The biggest challenge for me is buffing powders. I love the concept and love the finish of both hourglass items and the guerlain beads (the smell is divine) but manage to make it buff out the definition/vibrancy that blush and bronzer and highlight created)

Love this video, Mandy. Have you ever done a video on the various powder application techniques (puff, brush, etc.) and which technique/tool is best for which desired effect? I don't know why, but it seems like whenever I apply powder to set my foundation and to try getting a matte, poreless look, I just end up with a cakey look that emphasizes lines AND pores. I've almost given up powder because I get the look I want only about 1 in 10 times I try lol

Such a complicated topic but super helpful! I've broken my Pat McGrath a few times, so now I've moved on from that one, although it's lovely. I have an obsession with powders as I'm looking to blur texture on mature skin. Currently in my rotation for under eyes in Nikkia Joy loose, and for face I'm using Ben Nye Banana power, with both I'm using small triangular black powder puffs from Amazon for a nice finish. This topic might be nice to clone and do primers-my other obsession. Thanks Mandy!

What a great video Mandy. Going to try the Ere Perez powder. Question, on the Jane iredale pressed powder, mine looks cakey after applying, I use a brush for application. I only use moisturizer and sunscreen prior to using it. Should I wait like 20min after using sunscreen? What would your suggestion be?
@MandyDavisMUA2 жыл бұрын
I would definitely wait 10-15 minutes after SPF if you can. And do you use any kind of hydration spray after? That also helps alot.

This was fantastic and I'd love to see more types of products. I love the idea of powder but have trouble finding one that works with my extremely dry skin. I don't set my face but I do like a finishing powder. I buff out my blush and bronzer. I tend to use a blurring powder like Chantecaille blur something or Dior powder no powder. I also like the Guerlain meteorites. Face powder can quickly turn me into the cryptkeeper! Right now I'm using by Terry Hydro powder under my eyes - just a teensy tiny bit which mostly works.

Thank you, Mandy. You are always so thorough and explain things so well. Do you use powder on the days that you do not wear foundation, but a tinted sunscreen (I seem to recall you saying that sometimes you do), and if so, of all these many, which kind would you use? I find the tinted sunscreens just do not dry down and transfer everywhere (I have allergies and blow my nose a lot, and wear glasses too. I am old and wrinkly, too. What are your thoughts?
@MandyDavisMUA2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Katherine! I sometimes do and sometimes don't. When I was at disney and only wore SPF, I didn't because I knew I would need to reapply the SPF. And then there are days like today. I wore my SPF, the jane powder foundation and mascara and that's it. So it just depends on the day. But you can definitely set them and I think you will find it helps with the longevity.
@reneegrace79652 жыл бұрын
Thank you just loved this! I feel I use more than the normal amount of powder daily to set my foundation. I can't stand any tackiness or transfer and I have yet to find a foundation then sets down completely. I wanted to ask what is your favorite brush for picking up setting powder? Thank you so much!
