you say you're a jesus follower - do you think he would condone what is being done to farm animals? the way they're being mutilated, tortured, abused, exploited? His creations, murdered in billions. paying for that cruelty - no follower of a peaceful god would allow that. if what the bible says is to believed, humans are here to look after them. to care for them. that's why they we're given the ability to love, to care, to feel. if they were given to us to abuse, exploit and murder - why would he give them the ability to feel pain, fear and sadness. the thing with christians, and most religions - its full of hypocrites. say one thing, do the exact opposite. people say they're against animal cruelty. against abuse. get all riled up about dogs being eaten by chinese or koreans...then go out and buy a piece of cow. or lamb. or pig. all animals that feel pain and fear. all of them put here so that we can be they're guardians and protect them. not destroy them.

Yes to all of this as a former vegan with all sorts of issues. At the height of my veganism I feel pregnant and about 6 months into it I had to quit. I then had anemia and lots of major constipation issues and low serum albumin levels and pre eclampsia signs that meant my baby had to be taken out of me at 37 weeks and 2 days old. This time I am hoping to see a difference with proper nutrition.

And yes pro informed consent as many vegans actually dont care about the health issues they come up against as it's all about the animals... shocking that they are willing to put their own health at risk for such strong ethics about animals when there are plenty of starving people in the world that should have more of their compassion and time.

I was vegan for 9 years and I can honestly say it almost killed me. Not from an obvious physical health standpoint I suppose, but I was getting very little to no tryptophan (the precursor to serotonin + melatonin) and my omega 6 : omega 3 ratio was way off. My mental health suffered, and it came to a point where I was making very real plans to end my life. I hear so many medical professionals say that you can be healthy on a vegan diet, if done properly. I really don’t think this is true.. not only is veganism a restrictive diet, it is also a sacrificial one and we all deserve better. I am so relieved to hear a professional say they don't advise it. Hope everyone is doing okay at this time. 🤍
@anatolfelsen
@anatolfelsen Жыл бұрын
This is obviously a symptom of eating a terrible diet, not due to eating a vegan diet. Plant foods which are high in tryptophan include soy, oats, beans, seeds, chickpeas, nuts, seaweed, leafy greens... it's honestly impressive that you managed to eat a diet which was so inappropriately planned that you were deficient in this amino acid. Especially because ALL plant foods contain it to some extent.

If the animals and the environment are important to you and you’ve stopped doing mental gymnastics, there is no other option than going vegan. There are healthy ways of living plant based , too, so that would be a win-win-win situation: it’s super important for the animals, it’s super important for the environment, and, done right, it’s one of the best ways to promote a human’s health and wellbeing.

Hi Mandy. I just decided to try a plant based diet for this week to see what it was all about but I’ve found that I really like it a lot. Mostly I’m not good at cooking meat well and dairy makes my stomach really upset. I’ve found that I have more fun cooking vegan foods and I’m also eating way fewer processed foods. I was just wondering if you could advise or point me somewhere that I could figure out how much meat or dairy I actually need to eat in order to stay healthy. Can I eat a mostly vegan diet and kind of supplement with some meat sometimes? I really dislike eating meat just because I don’t like how it tastes or feels most of the time but I would be willing to continue to eat it to stay healthy. Thank you

Some people get away with a vegan diet and supplements. In my case I did not I was vegan for almost 2 year Super strictly no processed just veggies and fruits lots of probiotics , chlorella , kombucha etc. At the end I do remember having lots of muscle cramps , my mental health was very strange , angry anxious and depressed and I do remember asking myself I’m not like this I’m like never angry I’m always joking around on top of that I started to hear something like whispers in my head and I said this is it I’m going mental. I knew something was wrong and I made the decision to try Animal foods in case it was something to do with Veganism. You wouldn’t believe I ate 1L of organic Milk yogurt at basically 10 minutes later my mind was so calm and quiet. That’s when I stopped being vegan and started eating meat and guess what my health came back. 1.5 years later never had any of those symptoms again. Although my digestion is all over the place still from that vegan diet and if I eat too much carbs I get some symptoms of depression. I do believe that we need Animal products to thrives as a Human species and that veganism is kinda Dangerous. It’s tricky and insidious I do remember feeling at the best of my life at the begging of being Vegan but that slowly fades away folks.

Thank you. I'm struggling now realizing vegan is not for my body. I went vegan when I was dealing with digestive issues that I finally found out were coming from chronic appendicitis, an enlarged gall bladder, and endometriosis. I lost some weight for the first time in my life, and started to love the vegan foods and way of life.. now 2 years later, 2 surgeries Later, my IBS is worse and I discovered my ferritin is so low, that it explains my repeating spells of horrible weakness that I've had the past 1.5 years. I supplemented and ate so healthy, but it didnt matter. I made this iron deficiency worse and had no idea. So for the past month I've started meat again. I avoid high processed, eat my family farms birds and grass fed beef so at least there's that. I still avoid most dairy. But it's really hard going back on what I believed would be the answer. I was wrong. I didn't know, and still don't know, what my body needs. Can't compare to others anymore.
@bubbbbletea
@bubbbbletea 3 жыл бұрын
I'm rebuilding my ferritin storage too, after being plant based on and off for many years. You may want to look into liver and spleen (either as food or natural supplements), they're amazing sources of heme iron (spleen actually having 5x more than liver) and other nutrients missing from vegan diet. I actually plan to include them as well, because ferritin rebuilds suuper slowly (way slower than the actual iron levels). But it does rebuild. Mine went from 18 ug/L (and it was 1 point lower every year for 3 consecutive years I tested) to 29 ug/L, after a year of (mostly) carnivore diet. It's a tough battle but worth it, I already have way more energy and my IBS completely calmed down.

Most of the world's synthetic B12 is consumed by farmed animals, the animal products you consume only contain B12 because those animals diets were supplemented by it. The traditional diets of ancestral civilizations didn't require supplementation of B12 to animals nor humans because most humans were not sterilizing their vegetables before consuming them. B12 lives in our digestive tracts (animals too), so naturally occurring B12 is found ON plants grown with animal manure (and in some cultures, human manure). We all would be B12 deficient if it weren't for supplementation (of animals or ourselves) because we've become hyper obsessed with anti-bacteria.
@MandyMeehan
@MandyMeehan 5 жыл бұрын
You're right that we do make some B12 in our large intestine, which is quite similar for cows and other animals. Most cows aren't given synthetic B-12 though. I know a few farmers personally that I buy meat from that definitely do not. Giving cows supplemental B-12 has more to do with a low-quality pasture.

@J Y I think you're misunderstanding what I was saying. All I'm saying is people on a plant based diet can do so healthily with proper supplementation, B12 and D supplements. There's no shame in cutting out the middle man (or animal) and taking supplements, if one feels convicted to abstain from eating meat. 🤷🏼‍♀️

9:00, and this is why many vegans develop an orange or yellow tinge to their skin. I was raised strict vegetarian and we used to joke at the veg restaurant where my parents worked when customers came in "oh another veggie who's been eating too many carrots, that one's turning orange". So vegetarians back then (70's and 80's) knew about this.

You have to admit this is a selfish way of looking at veganism. You touch on factory farming, but that is a huge reason people choose veganism. Animal agriculture has an enormous impact on greenhouse emissions and saying that there is a way to raise animals products in a sustainable way is a false hope without also decreasing the demand for animal products. Lastly, because you are a "passionate Jesus follower," I have to bring this up.. God told us to be the stewards of HIS dominion and I don't think that contributing to a system that literally abuses, degrades and unnecessarily ends the lives of HIS animals can be thought of as Christ like.
@MandyMeehan

Hi Michael, Interesting perspective. I’m not quite sure why you find this a selfish way to look at veganism... I choose to eat animal foods based on the evidence showing that it is superior for people’s health. Do you find it selfish because I’m choosing my health over an animal’s life? I’m genuinely curious what you are meaning by this. To address the other portion of your comment, I do believe that we can steward the planet through regenerative agriculture. That’s why I buy meat from local, regenerative farms, and never from factory farms.

@@MandyMeehan Choosing your health over the health of the planet and an animals life. Promoting eating meat on your platform will contribute to industrialized animal agriculture. @MR MEME Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Animals are sent for slaughter when they're babies, some are as young as 42 days old. I used to be a big meat eater and always justified it by making myself believe animals are slaughtered humanely, but after a lot of research i realised there's no such thing. Also, 95% of farms are factory farms and we all know how horrific those are. Even "free range" farms are just as bad, it's just false labeling to make people feel better about eating animals. I would highly recommend watching a documentary called Land of hope and glory, it shows you hidden truth behind all animal agriculture and is extremely eye opening. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqfXh56EpMuWp5o

When vegans are missing nutrients, it doesn't separate them from meat eaters. Meat eaters are missing tons of nutrients as well, and doing far more kidney and heart damage. It's not the vegan diet that creates deficiencies, it's the lack of nutrients in the top soil our crops are being grown, for one.

I tried veganism for 1 year. It destroyed my body, internally and externally. My digestive system rebelled: leaky gut, constant diahrrea, headaches, foggy brain (including impaired vision and hearing), I couldn't even do basic arithmetic anymore. I had tremors and couldn't stand or walk for even a minute without feeling faint and about to collapse. Lost all my muscle tone, skin was shot, trouble breathing even when resting, heart palpitations and angina. Not even able to tell you all the damage. Its a cruel concept. Evil ... Pure evil. My dreams were filled with visions of me eating a chunks of meat that were bigger than my head. Now I eat meat, only. Amazing transformation, 1 month on meat and I feel my my body bouncing back.

well done Marlene for coming away from the stupid vegan fad and con pushed by the elite. Sorry that it did so much damage but it was inflicted by yourself although you were naive and stupid. @@papadry7710 by the elite? poorest nations in the world tend to live a mostly vegan diet. meat is too expensive. we haven't been eating meat "since the beginning of time" our primate ancestors lived primarily off of fruits and nuts and seeds. even when the first "modern" human appeared on the scene, their diet was, again, mostly plant based. only when they learned to hunt together did meat play a more prominent role. veganism isn't a fad. it's a belief that life should be treated with respect. that where possible, no harm or exploitation should be inflicted on other beings. the problem lies in the fact that the majority of people don't like to be shown that what they're paying for, the abuse and harm and murder of other beings, is not necessary. that's why flesh eaters get so angry. they don't like being shown that they cause pain and suffering. there is no way that a well planned vegan diet will leave you lacking in any nutrients. i've been vegan for 6 years now and am flourishing. i'm pretty sure i'm not an"elite" or a "leftie dickhead" just be conscious of what you eat. if you eat rubbish vegan food, you will have issues. if you have an underlying gut issue, it will become more obvious. plants heal your body, it doesn't destroy it.

I'm amazed that I can laugh about this, considering how lethal this topic truly is. First of all: PRIMATE ANCESTOR? That is a theory. Let us assume it is valid, not all humans share this primate ancestry. I certainly don't, perhaps that's why it is detrimental to me and those like me. Freedom of choice is key. Are you then saying that plants are not consciousness beings? They feel, communicate and emote, so what makes vegans so virtuous? The fact that they choose a species that cannot talk back? Do we judge each other's food choice when we humans all are parasitic and destructive to nature.
@pompidoos4891
@pompidoos4891 4 жыл бұрын
@@woolrie2134 no. it's not a theory. if you go back far enough, there is a common ancestor before we separated into great apes and others.there were also a few other species of humans. 5, if memory serves. all homo sapiens share this ancestry. you are homo sapiens. I have no idea why you would think this is a theory, or that humans share different evolutionary ancestry. we belong to the same specie. when you say freedom of choice, do you extend that same courtesy to animals you pay to be murdered? do they have the same freedom of choice to be locked up or not? they do not have any choice. before you start spouting about freedom of choice, make sure you are ready to extend that to whoever you're paying to get murdered. no, plants are not conscious. they do not "feel" . they do not " communicate" and the pretty much do not "emote". they react to external stimuli. all their "actions" are just reactions to things happening around them. they have no central nervous system. comparing the fear and other emotions that animals feel to a plant is ridiculous. if plant were sentient, or scared of being eaten, they would have evolved to have legs so that they can run away. like we did. like other species did. i do not judge what you eat. i don't care what you eat. i care that you're paying to have someone murdered. i care that animal farming is a leading cause of climate change. i care that the amazon is being leveled so that there is more room for crops and more land for cattle. in no way is what is being done to those animals right. every meat eater goes on about its their freedom to choose what to eat. next time you pay for the flesh taken from an animal, consider whether they had the same choice afforded them.

Hi Mandy, writing to you from Australia this is a bit random but i have had me/cfs for 10 years and i have had good years and bad ones. Recently as of March to my shock things actually got worse than ever with new symptoms etc.. and i couldn't really believe it ( that's another long story). So there i am in the dumps feeling a bit lost to be honest and my partner came home with this book called Hope In The Dark i didn't want to read it as i was feeling pretty hard of heart. I proceeded to read and when Craig mentions his daughters unexplained bad health after mono i knew what you had that very second and said so to my partner. (For your Dad please tell him i got a lot out of his book there were parts that really spoke to me). This week i have been watching a lot of me/cfs videos to see how others are coping etc and my heart goes out to all these people just like me, whilst doing this i clicked on one of your videos and remembered the name Mandy and thought could this be the one who had the unexplained bad health from the book so i clicked on your Instagram link and it mentioned life church that was a pretty cool moment. I wanted to say I am very glad you got a diagnosis and that you are doing a fair bit better with your health and treatments. Before i go i have to thank you for your videos you are very switched on, i have watched a few and they are very encouraging in hope for healing and also in living in the reality of chronic illness as a Christian. Well i am off to try some new Chiropractic and Lymphatic drainage treatments this week that i haven't tried before and i am feeling very hopeful thanks for reading and i will pray for you and your family. I think the main issue with modern meat is that the animals are not looked after or fed an appropriate diet. We are eating sick animal meat. Even organic meat comes from animals with not enough exercise and grass fed are finished off on grain. If the animal was a person they would do little to no exercise, be over weight and subsist on junk food.

There are sooo many sources of K1 in plants... leafy green vegetables, broccoli, bok choy, peas, lentils, blueberries, grapes, prunes... the list goes on and on. K2 is limited in the plant diet, but can be found in tempeh, kombucha, and other fermented products. BUT, even without consuming plant products with K2, our own gut bacteria has the ability to convert K1 into K2!

I believe there are some studies that show ALA can be converted to EPA, and somewhat less to DHA, more efficiently by women than by men. But yes, conversion rates are very low, and I'd imagine it's impossible to have ideal omega 3/6 ratios on a vegan diet without algae oil capsules, which are very prone to oxidation and can be pretty toxic.

In a study of British males, 52% of the vegans, 7% of the vegetarians and about 0.44% (that's one in 226) of the omnivores were vitamin B12 deficient: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2933506/?report=classic .

I would LOVE if you talked about how much meat is necessary to fulfill those nutrients and vitamins only found in a non vegan diet. Early listening to her I already am hearing things that don’t sound right. Some vitamins/ nutrients are less available on plant based diets, but also are arguably safer. Your body, can’t have too much vitamin A or Iron from plants. However what really stood out was cholesterol. Dangerously high cholesterol is a common problem, the reverse not so much. That aside if it were to become a problem consuming coconut oil would be more effective than eating dietary cholesterol in raising it. Anyways I’d look at vegans to non vegan and verify for yourself if there generally more deficient. The American Dietetic Association seems it healthy for the average person at all stages of life. Although regardless I’d recommend supplementing B12 as vegans and non vegans often have absorption issues. Sublingual B12 can help with it.

This was actually very respectfully said, unlike most "Why I am not vegan" videos, awesome job! I will say that you should check out LilykoiHawaii on KZbin for a vegan that's in optimal health, she's doing amazing on a vegan diet. I eat mostly plant based but I have been including eggs as well. You can get enough iron on a vegan diet though, I don't think that's fair to say. When I was completely vegan I had healthy iron levels from eating lots of legumes. You can also convert beta carotene into retinol......vegans do not have lower vitamin A levels than non-vegans. When you say the conversion from beta carotene to retinol is low, that's true, but a sweet potato has over 1000% of beta carotene.....even if you're only converting a small amount of beta carotene to retinol, you're likely still going to meet your vitamin A needs. I agree about B12, k2, and DHA though. You can get all your amino acids though, from what I understand.......can you give an example of an amino acid you can't get on a vegan diet? As far as lectins go, those are basically killed when you cook beans/grains.........Also, there's a strong correlation between meat and diabetes and certain cancers, particularly colon cancer.

My granddaughter went vegetarian, and it broke my heart. She’s having so many problems and she’s only 18 years old. You can’t even talk to her because you know dead animals and everything. She is so unhealthy. She’s very pale, very thin, which she already was anyway. She’s a very smart girl, but this so-called veganism religion. She’s on is impenetrable, it’s going to take I’m afraid a really serious physical medical issue to break her. She gets a lot of support from the family. But what I wanted to say was I was keto for six years but I was still having a lot of issues and that’s why I’m saying this about my granddaughter, because I had issues and they were not being healed by eating vegetables. I went on the carnivore diet to figure out what was going on and immediately I was already getting better. My asthma went away. My arthritis started to back off. Yes I said arthritis. I am 65 years old in August. My chronic 20+ year diarrhea, cleared up. I simply cannot go back. I tried to eat some vegetables in August of last year after being on carnivore for four months and I literally could not walk that night and that did it for me. I was done for good. Fruit does not bother me. I just don’t eat it that much, I’m always just excited to hear a young person. Talk about this. If I had only known that many years ago that I could’ve saved myself a lot of issues. I have no gallbladder I’ve had hysterectomy I’ve had two ganglion cysts removed whether that is diet related I don’t know. I’ve had so many surgeries, including DVT blood clot. I just wish I had known all about carnivore 40 years ago. I look at all these people that show up on KZbin, pushing their plant life and I say to myself how are you not affected by all of these oxalates toxins and fiber? Because I was and I did not know I had to seek out why. And you look at all the stories that are on Dr. Baker and Dr. chaffee and others many many others who found their way out of vegetables and how sick they were and it just blows your mind.

Hi! B12 is actually synthesized in the rumen of a cow’s stomach. Cobalt rich soil is necessary for them to convert it into cobalamin (B12). Eating meat is far from the only answer to nutrient deficiencies. Healthy gut lining for proper absorption, we’ll functional reticuloendothelial system (RES), methylation, etc. are all important factors. Iron overload can also cause low serum iron levels actually. In my opinion, I think at the moment we need more people to eat less animal products purely because of the emissions and land/water usage that it causes. I’m eating less animal products to help the environment, not for my health, because the world is really struggling with global warming atm, and I think we need to sort out global warming more than we do our own health (to some degree) I can manage being slightly more unhealthy if it helps the environment

Blood test are pretty inept.. only tests the blood, not the stores in the organ, this means you can still be low in that nutrient if it says its normal. And if you take a supplement and then its "normal" theres also no way to know its level of bioavailability, also meaning how well its absorbed and used. B12 comes from bacteria in good soil (which we dont have) and the outside of fruits and vegetables.. it is also produced in the colon of which nearly all people have trouble producing and absorbing.. meat eaters (50 percent) are also defficient in iron and b12.. its just more vegans (80 percent) because so many vegan diets are restrictive or limited in nutrients. It takes a very good effort and long time to see that we re still pretty behind on knowing whats really going on.. Medical Medium clarified all the information I ever sensed or felt and is a very good place to start for healing and nutrition info. I also was an RD for a long time.. its just a starting place of study and unfortunately pretty misguided also.

This may sound ignorant but bear with me because I really don't know the answer. Alright, I understand human civilizations all over the world have eaten animals for as long as we have records; but when did it start being "roasted" meat, like actually cooked meat and did it change something? Shouldn't it be natural to eat raw meat? I suppose cooking does eliminate bacteria or whatever pathogens, but is it really concerning considering the amount of antibiotics the meat industry uses and the fact that meat is kept refrigerated? Also, does it have a biochemical effect on the body for a human to eat cooked meat vs raw meat?

Veganism is probably the worst diet you can possibly get involved in. You need some animal fat and protein to have an optimal diet. its the most bioavailable foods, and I'd consider meat the only real health food. Vegetables are ok in smaller numbers, as long as you able to tolerate them. But people who avoid all meat and fats are opening themselves up for a a world of heath issues. You may feel godd for about a year, but afterwards you will start suffering from nutritional deficiencies which will absolutely wreck your body and your mind.

I am vegan and you raise some good points which I have heard of for the most part. It is good for vegans or plant based dieters to know these things. Just so you know being vegan is about not wanting to harm sentient beings, it isn't a plant based diet or about being environmental. The label has been misused a lot. I would be interested to hear your thoughts about the potential harm from eating animals, eggs and dairy to give a balanced viewpoint.

Sorry, but she can't. There are none. Animal products are far more bioavailable and healthy than any plant products. Humans traded in big guts capable of digesting plants for our big brains extremely long ago... as soon as we came down from the trees, in fact. The more you learn about phytotoxins abundant in plants, but absent in animal foods, the less you want to eat them.

@@kayallen7603 I agree Kay. But not only that, I am not sure what vegans would think would happen if a predator, like a lion, or bear that was hungry if they came upon a human. You may recall the couple that loved animals, and bears. They lived with them, until one day the bears were hungry, and ate the humans. Bears eat berries, honey, fish, and whatever they need to get nutrients, but by nature they are carnivores/omnivores just like humans. Vegans baffle me.

What the heal is a biased cherry picking documentary pushing an agenda. I'm sure you will use the same argument against all nutrition studies. You need to do objective research and use your common sense. Must studies are imperfect most certainly the vegan studies. There's a reason some nutrition converts and absorbs optimally in animal products. We have evolved as omnivores our biology is designed for being omnivores. No matter what the vegan experiment has to say about it. You can live on peanuts for probably years, the human body is very adaptive. It doesn't mean you should, also an optimal diet shouldn't be so complicated. Let alone when it still leaves you lacking vital nutrition and demands supplementation. Also most of what you eat can't even grow in your region. Every argument the vegan community has is only held in ideology not facts. It's called cognitive bias, fact is if humans attached their emotions to their diet. We wouldn't exist at the species , we are nature and should accept our place in nature. The vegan lifestyle is a modern luxury. even though as you can see on these comments and on many other videos. It didn't turn out so luxurious for most people on it. Had nothing to do with doing it the right way there is no right way. I'm not trying to be disrespectful just speaking my truth. Just ask yourself are your perceptions based in facts or your emotions and someone else's articulated version of what's true.
