such a great video! we actually didn't love the andaz, but only bc it was hard to live up to PH kyoto and conrad osaka. plus we weren't glob so didn't have breakfast. but your video makes me realize i forgot to check out many of the on-site amenities. also didn't love the area like you mentioned so next time we're staying at HC ginza before going to niseko =) ...although im contemplating trying conrad tokyo too lol forever indecisive -_-

🍵 Definitely my favorite Hyatt Property in Tokyo (albeit never stayed at the Park Hyatt and can't wait to see what it looks like after the 2024 renovation)

Woahhh very nice wow!! I loved that room + views, but that rooftop bar INSANE! 🍵 Oh didn’t know about the complimentary non-alcoholic drinks + time traveling robot cat/tiger 😂😂😂 I loved this Mandy, as I’m going to really try to explore the full luxury side of Hyatt this year, I can’t wait to see some properties like this!

🍵I use my points almost exclusively for flights and havent yet bothered with getting a hotel card, let alone transferring to Hyatt. 30k seems to be a pretty good redemption for the room (and amenities) if you happen to have status. That said, I'm not sure I'd bother staying in Ginza since, to your point, its kinda far from everything else, especially if its your first time. I typically stay around Kashiwa - Its a nice commercial area with lots of restaurants, malls, and a sizable Don Qui. Its also a more affordable area (Ginza is pretty boogee) and there are a few nice places to stay at around there. Thanks to you and to Sebby for the video. Looking forward to the next one!

Awesome video and tour of the Andaz! Stayed at the Conrad Tokyo and Hyatt Centric before and definitely was convenient in terms of location. Did you and Sebby get to explore the new Hotel Toranomon Hills that was briefly mentioned in the video? It’s also under the Hyatt umbrella and seems to be in the Station Tower? Would it cut down the walk time to the station?
@MandyRoams8 ай бұрын
Took a peek inside some of the restaurants in the hotel that looked nice. Didn't explore the lobby or rooms. On the list of potential hotels to try next time! Yes, the hotel is a few escalators away from the station.

Have you stayed at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo? Deciding between GH and this Andaz for our family’s first visit to Japan (specifically the last 2 days of our trip).

Yes! Grand Hyatt Tokyo is in Roppongi, which is more convenient to everything, and the metro is right around the corner.

That's a really lovely standard room. Beautiful. Good lighting is essential. I've been to some hotels that could have been so much more comfortable if they sorted the lighting out, not just for atmosphere but for reading in the evening. I loved the 'switchboard' of lighting switches you showed here-- and that huge TV and work desk. Here in England so many hotels are either plonking bathtubs in the main bedroom (?!), somehow thinking this is chic or luxurious (tip: it isn't, it's horribly impractical) or else doing away with bathtubs entirely and installing plush showers instead. I won't make this a long rant, but I cannot possibly be the only seasoned traveller who LOVES having a long soak after a long day walking around sightseeing? All day in the presence of my travelling companion, it's wonderful to be able to shut myself into a private tranquil room and read a novel with a sheet mask on. ESPECIALLY in the cold winter months. That requirement seems to be increasingly rare or else these hotels in the UK wouldn't insist on removal of bathtubs. Sooooo weird and stingy, no?
@MandyRoams4 ай бұрын
My preference is always: (1) nice tubs > (2) nice showers > (3) bad tubs. I agree that a soak after a long day is amazing. I feel like some hotels (i.e., Waldorf Astoria Versailles) has the vanilla short/tiny tubs that almost seem pointless (can't really soak well and is more just a shower with a taller wall).
@ciganyweaverandherperiwink62934 ай бұрын
@@MandyRoams Haha, a "shower with a taller wall" 😹😹👍💯 I'll do you one better: in those insulting, miserly little ersatz bathtubs (like an impressionist painting SUGGESTING a bathtub), I feel like a strawberry sitting in a single compartment of an ice cube tray. I'm picturing myself sitting cross-legged in a giant melting ice cube. 😆 Thanks for being a kindred spirit and understanding The Bath being a non negotiable feature when travelling in winter.🛀🖖

@MandyRoams3 ай бұрын
Grand Hyatt or the Hyatt Regency are both great! Really depends on which neighborhood you want to be in. Andaz is a beautiful property, but tough for first time visitors unless you don't mind the extra walking.

Looks like a beautiful hotel. I'm not much of a big city guy, but looking forward to a trip to Japan next fall or winter for a couple weeks, mixing city and countryside. It might be a nice first afternoon in town, just to relax somewhere nice, take in the view, and soak up a little Tokyo business vibe. Location doesn't matter since I'm not prioritizing Tokyo in this plan - too many dreams of zipping around on the Shinkansen for 2-3 day samples of a few cities and regional countryside attractions (Mugame-Tsumago trail etc). Therefore, recovering from the inbound flight in a luxurious place might make sense. Or maybe there's a smarter way to plan an itinerary? I may revise my statement "I'm not much of a big city guy" after visiting by adding "unless it's in Japan." A second visit will cost more since I'll spend all my miles and points so I better be careful... but you only live once. I can always try one of those pod hotels next time 😆🍵
@MandyRoams2 ай бұрын
(you probably already know this but...) I would look into the JR Pass, especially if you're planning to hop on and off the Shinkansen and explore multiple cities :)
@josefwitt97722 ай бұрын
@@MandyRoams thanks! Some people say it's no longer a good deal, others say to just do the math and figure it out. That's clearly the best way. I don't have the luxury of spending a few days working from overseas (regulated industry) so I'm limited to 2 weeks - fast trains will help make the most of it.
@MandyRoams2 ай бұрын
I think you need to hop on and off a lot / be moving around a ton. Doesn't make sense for us but yeah, purely a math equation haha

🍵 Hi Mandy! Great video! This is Allen from NY 😊. This is very informative because my girlfriend and I plan to go back to Japan in May. We stayed at the Park Hyatt in Shinjuku (before I got Globalist status) last year, and it was amazing (35K points per night). As of now, Park Hyatt is listed as "unavailable" in May, so debating the Andaz as a fall back. My Globalist status expires in 2025, so wanna take advantage of the benefits while I can. Thank you for this review!
