I’m a new curly at 66 yo. I didn’t realize that I had curly hair. I just thought it was frizzy. So I had cropped it very short for 30 years. I had been growing it out just because I was tired of it short for all those years. I have natural silver/gray color and a curly friend advised me to try curly styling on it. I found your videos and they have helped me tremendously. Thanks. It has been quite an unexpected journey.

Me, too! Discovered what I thought was just frizzy, wavy hair all my life was actually curly! Grew out from a pixie (also for about 30yrs!) during Covid and discovered it was actually curly! It's a pretty gray and still thick at 73. Wish I had known all those years ago!

I started making my own products because of allergies and sensitivities. The breaking point was the Be Curly line from Aveda. Loved it but it has ginger in the fragrance and I am allergic. I didn’t know because it’s included in the parfum and not listed specifically. The day I added the curl foam, I was already using the shampoo and conditioner, is when my scalp felt like it was on fire. Had a patch test done by a dermatologist and learned there are a lot of ingredients in products I’m sensitive to. I was having a difficult time trying to figure out what was bothering me so I started making my own gel, shampoo, leave in conditioner, and hair butter. It’s taken a really long time to get my scalp back to normal-ish. Even if I can’t use the products you review on your channel I have definitely learned a lot of helpful information. I wish there were more sensitive and fragrance free products available for curly hair.

Which products made the most difference for you?? Thinking about buying a couple!
@snowflakes2153 күн бұрын
@ I liked all. Shampoo and conditioner were great. Cleansed well and moisturized well with a great scent. You can pick either the volumizing lotion or leave-in, they are similar so don’t need both. Root booster helps and the scent is amazing. Volume mousse is just okay, it leaves a residue but since I wash often that doesn’t bother me. I need a gel on top so you can skip if you want. I’d do shampoo, conditioner, either leave-in or volumizing lotion and root spray from the line with another Curlsmith gel to complete the routine. Hope this helps! I love Curlsmith!

This year I used the Innersense I create definition styling foam for the first time and it was my holy grail of 2024! I live in NYC and walk outside all day and that was the product of the summer! It stood up to the humidity, weather, and even working out. I know its not for everyone but some of us need a STRONG hold and it did not disappoint!

Totally agree that my MVPs are the Pattern mousse and the Bounce Curl brush. Just started using the Olaplex 5 leave in and I am loving it too. My biggest love in the expensive category and new discovery for myself is Shu Uemura - specifically the essence absolue oil for finishing (also works amazing as a leave in before styling). Also received a sample of the Shu Uemura ultimate reset mask in a Sephora reward kit and OMG😮, I can’t believe how amazing it is and that I am going to purchase the full size of something so expensive. I am not a mask lady as they are normally too heavy for my fine hair but this one is everything. Thanks Mell, Amanda and Anthony for a great 2024 collection of videos. This year, I went back to OG combo of As I Am leave in and Kinky Curly Curling Custard because I was so frustrated with my curls suddenly looking mangled, like something the cat chewed, and getting ridiculously frizzy, and they are good as new. Ironically, I originally strayed because I decided KC was “too expensive” but ended up with Curlsmith hydro gel flexi jelly and curling soufflé?? When Curlsmith works for me, it’s great, but I do not have time to calculate the relative humidity, mood of my hair, and moon phase to provide the appropriate offering to get the styler gods to smile upon me when I wash my hair. I will never stray again!! 🙌🏻
@ANDREAK20122 күн бұрын
Me, too! I keep coming back to KC curling gel! It seems to work the best-most consistent across all humidity, etc. I use the As I Am coconut cowash. I do have issues some in 90+ summer heat though. Will get droopy. I use with Not Your Mother's Mousse, and finish with Harry's sculpting gel - firm hold.

So mad at Dyson Mell! They designed a new diffuser but make you buy a whole new 500.00 hair dryer to use it. Why couldn't they make a new re-designed one for those of us who have already spent $400 on a dryer can use? Never again will I buy a Dyson.

They sell the attachment separately on their website, you don't need to buy the new blow dryer (Edit: they also state the new diffuser is backwards compatible with the original blow dryer)
@maureenlevy2073 күн бұрын
@zaphie7857 Unfortunately, no they don't. If you look at the end of it, it's not even designed to fit in the original dryer. They sell it separately to replace the one that comes with the new dryer. Yes, you can buy the old diffuser that goes with the original dryer but I was referring to the new model Mell was discussing.
@AestheticNailsbyLin3 күн бұрын
@@maureenlevy207 It literary says on their website under the FQA: Yes. The Wave+Curl diffuser is compatible with previous Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryers. However, the Attachment learning feature will only work with Dyson Supersonic Nural™ machines.

I rediscovered a love for the AG mousse gel, however it only worked in the fall and winter in the dryer months.
