I've had white hairs on sections of my head since I was five, so maybe not exactly the same thing, but they don't tend to ever follow a curl pattern, even if you put them in rollers or heat curl them to force them that way. They're also a bit odd in tnat they're never the same porosity as the rest of my hair, they're like an obstinate child and decide to be the opposite of whatever the rest of my hair is.

Agreed with you guys. Loved the shampoo and deep conditioner. Didn’t think the conditioner was that bad..Paired the leave in with the gel and did not like it but did get compliments on how defined my curls were. I hope she comes out with a gel to pair with the leave in!

Great review, thorough and honest! 🙏 Please, please, please address the silver, curly hair care, style and retention of hair. My hair was mixed coarse and medium. I went dye free in 2019. I learned to cut and better style my curls thanks to you 👏 🎉 After Covid in 2020 I lost a lot of hair for about three months and haven’t recovered it, although I’m back to a normal loss of hair. I look forward to a KZbin video for us silver, platinum, white hair ladies. We too like to showcase our hair.

Ugh, I’ve heard from lots of people that COVID caused telogen effluvium (stress or illness related hair loss). I’m sorry that happened to you! The good news is you should regrow all that lost hair, but it will take a long time before you really start noticing all that new growth. My hair is starting to go silver and I can already tell those strands act different from the rest of my hair, so I’ll have to relearn what works best for me too.

My hair natural is sadly not silver but a boring speckled grey and very dry ,and even coarser so I will continue to colour as that has always helped with coarseness

@@CMch22 I add a very small amount of coconut oil to my hair, avoiding the scalp or other natural oils while wet, then style. Helps give my hair shine and define curls. I have yet to discover a good medium hold product that won’t dry my hair in time, making it look dull. I’m curious to know what Mell has for us ladies that choose to age gracefully and want organic non damaging products that can make our hair look fabulous.

@@SSmith-dn9ib I’m partial silver and once I transition to my natural hair color, it was a weight off my shoulder. It takes patience , love and acceptance during the transition. My friends and family prefer I dye my hair during my transitioning. I thanked them and shared my goal of going natural. I want to conserve my hair by avoiding harsh ingredients that will cause excess hair loss. I incorporated natural products before I transitioned to my natural hair and I believe that helped. For a little while I tried other shampoos and conditioner that claimed to be natural and helped keep my hair looking good and all it gave me was dry, frizzy hair, so I went back and snipped my hair from the damage and looks and feels way better. I get compliments from lady strangers and ask how I keep my hair looking good. I direct them to Mell for cut and styles and share what I use. I wash my hair with Dr Bronner’s Castile soap and use organic coconut or olive, almond oils sparingly. Avoiding my scalp when use for styling, unless as treatment then on the scalp and massage.

@@CMch22 Thanks for the info. When I first stop dying my hair, I would brush my hair to one side and that created an ombre look. I got a few compliments and one young lady said she envy my hair, really like the look. Sometime you just got to try different way of styling and search for videos what other ladies that works. I feel much better not having to dye my hair. I found a few channels of ladies transitions to their natural hair color and documented. They appear younger every single one after in their natural color than when they use to dye their hair. It’s liberating when.

Alternating between the Fenty Moisture Rich Shampoo and Bounce Curl's Gentle Clarifying Shampoo every third or fourth wash day might be a good approach. And that hair color Mell is currently rocking is PERFECT for her!

Thank you for this! I've never had a relaxer and have spent my entire life trying to figure out these curls of mine. Growing up in the late 80s and 90s, there was nothing available in my small town except chemical straightening, which my Mom strictly prohibited (grateful she did NOT let me do it).I get so many compliments on my hair, and it's because your tips and breakdowns make it easy to apply to my hair. I would love to have you do a dedicated unscented review series. I appreciate you always call out scents and if something is sensitive friendly, but that's not the same as a dedicated dive into unscented products. My allergies to scents can mean trying a new product triggers a migraine that can put me out of work for a few days, and there's a lot of people like me out there. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford doing the trial and error process to find things that work for me, but that's hundreds (even thousands) of wasted dollars that not everyone has. Its also hundreds of hours of research. Appreciate you and everything this channel has done for my hair. 🧡

Making products that work for EVERYONE is no easy feat, which is why most companies have multiple lines. Based off what you said, some of the products depend on your porosity, density, and health of hair, which is to be expected of most products.

enjoyed this. my only issue is you rated the products pretty harsh (the gel in particular) because It didn't perform the way you wanted it to for styles that it wasn't intended for lol. it's a slick back gel. it's formulated that way. it's like being upset that an edge gel doesn't help you get the curls you want.

Happy Texture Thursday! Unrelated to Fenty, but I did recently order the Verb curl gel mousse, curl cream, and deep conditioner and my hairs and I are in love. I wasn’t sure about the gel mousse because I didn’t think it would provide enough hold, but I should have known better than to doubt Mell. My hair has never looked more hydrated and defined! I already know I’ll be repurchasing all 3 products once I run out!

Thank you so much for such a thorough review! Ok. So I totally fan girled the line as I love Riri. I tried the shampoo, strengthening leave in and home curl this first go round In a twist out! It’s only day one, so I will see how it looks on day two but day one results are shiny and defined. I am so in love with the scent! It has me walking around filling like I am in a cloud of luxury. Will try the deep conditioner and the gel next wash day.

Honestly, based on everything you said, I think the curl defining cream sounds like something that I would want ! And pair it with a gel so can wear that style for a while.

Yes! It’s not bad, just not for everyone!! Be careful which gel you pair it with so it doesn’t clump and curdle on your head. Try using a foam/mousse to pair it with you may have better luck!! Glad you doing this helpful 🙏🏻

I think chia seeds are a part of the so called bond ingredients that curlsmith uses… which i also don’t believe is as great as it claims for bond repair. Thank you for reviewing! I love the packaging, and it sounds like it smells really good! I don't think I'll be buying though. For the price, I think I'll stick to my Olaplex/Redken. Rihanna is great at taking consumer feedback into consideration -- maybe she will improve the formulas soon!
