Well done vid on this head. I configured mine so that I can use it with my left, thus allowing me to keep my right hand just for camera operation. It's the clear dope for portraiture and no it would not be good for panos.

Hi I am using the same equipment like you. If you making photos outside, would you live the camera on the head and walk around? I don't trust that and I take down everytime, which is very laborious.

@btpuppy: you let go of the pistol grip and it stays in place. then you take the picture. though there's actually an add-on that Manfrotto sells for this grip that lets you take a picture with your thumb still on the grip. @MacMike1000: looks like a standard battery grip to me.

Can anyone recommend a good joystick head that works well for panning / panoramas? Vanguard has some cool option with their double swivel joystick head, though there are complaints of camera creep (which has been a big problem with my past 2 tripods). Thanks.

Is there a way to lock it in the free position? So if you are shooting birds in flight and need it free, do you have to hold the lever or can it be locked free then released to lock up? Thanks.

How did you attach the 322rc2? My 400DX Slik has a Slik head attached. The centre column just has a Center hex screw hosing a cap like washer. Hmm.

I love the idea of the joystick tripod head. But the design begs a question. As 99.9 % of camera's shutter release button is on the right side, why would Manfrotto design their joystick tripod head to be on the right side as well? As I am right-handed, it would make sense to have this handle set up on the left side so that you can operate the shutter release button with the right hand. This seems obvious. Or am I missing something here?

You can find an answer to your question in comments in here. You just need to re-position the bracket. You can even put it on the end of grip.

+Brian Rueger I only needed to simply look at it. I feel this was quite intuitive to normal users. Here is a good tip most users are unaware of. IF the 322rc2 seems to loose clamping strength onto the ball or the camera sags. There is a small allen head screw just above the red friction indicator. Turn this screw in one sixth of a turn at a time until you are pleased with the clamping strength and the lever movement action. I find that cleaning the ball from time to time smooths the positioning movement as well.

I saw a video made by Manfrotto that shows how to switch it to a left handed photographer. On either B&H or Adorama. I answered in case someone more recently had the same question as this one from 5 years ago.

you have to adjust the head with the right hand - if I want to make a photo my right hand is in use -I cant keep my right hand on the "trigger" doesnt seems comfortable

It is completely customisable for left and right hand use, the bracket can even be put on the end of the grip for upright use (note the two rubber bungs on the end of the grip protecting screw holes) a very versatile tool.

Yup, as a matter of preference, the manfroto logo shud be on the top. The only thing bad is the screw in design which is rather weird.. the grove inside the body are actually helical spring which could be easily damaged like mine did. Very bad bad design by manfroto, it just doesnt makes any sense at all

I'm not subscribing. You invite people to comment or ask questions and I can see that several have done....but no answers. And the review was disappointing - shallow and very repetitive. Think more about what you have to say before starting, and use a script if you can't remember it.
