Just to add on: the other huge reason the Darling in the Franxx manga is noteable is that it diverges from the anime, which if you've seen the anime, you know that's a great thing.

Already picked up the Sakamoto Days volume. It's such an incredible series. I CANNOT WAIT for it to get an anime adaptation. The fight scenes are gonna look amazing (hopefully)!!!! 🔥

Can't wait to pick up Sakamoto Days. I think this series deserves to be hyped up as much as Jump's heavy hitters. The action panelling is just on another level. Might take an anime adaption before it gets the credit it truly deserves, but until then, I hope it has a good run in the magazine!!

So, on the note of having difficulty getting early books when getting into a popular series later: I actually find it more difficult to get the middle volumes of a series. Early volumes are easier to get because they are more likely to get reprinted, and most recent volumes being newest mean they are more likely still in circulation. But try getting volume 14 of a 30 volume series. Those are the ones that are less likely to get reprints so finding them is more of a search (admittedly I mainly do manga reading through my library so I am limited to whatever they can have in the network). As for April things. Yeah, Sakamoto Days I also was reading from chapter 1 so seeing the physical release is nice. For non-volume 1s, book 5 of Asadora! by Naoki Urasawa is coming out so looking forward to that.

My most anticipated release of April comes out on the 19th: Skip and Loafer Vol. 4, by Misaki Takamatsu, the latest volume of this seinen slice-of-life/romantic comedy starring one of the most lovable protagonists you'll ever find. Published by Seven Seas, retails for $12.99. The series has been nominated for several awards, has been announced to be getting an anime, and is one of my favorite ongoings; I highly recommend checking it out. Of the manga covered in this video, I'm particularly interested in some of the last few: 'A Galaxy Next Door' sounds interesting, and I enjoyed what I read of 'Sweetness & Lightning', a sweet family cooking series. I'm also interested in 'Sensei's Pious Lie'; what caught my eye at first is that the volume cover looks so similar to the volume covers for my favorite underrated series, the seinen horror/romance 'I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die', though there doesn't seem to be any other connection. This new series sounds intriguing though, so I'll look into it. Great video!

I tried watching Darling in the Franxx and I just didn't get into it. I'm not sure why, it didn't really click with me on the first episode. But I'm willing to give the manga a shot. I did that with Evangelion because I never saw the anime, but my gf is a HUGE Eva fan and I wanted to talk about it with her somehow. Also, I'm excited about Ayakashi Triangle since I've heard about it from Joey aka The Anime Man (as most people might have heard it from.) When Given was mentioned in relation to Links, I was like "Given...Mafuyu's song makes me bawl every time I hear it." I might pick this up. I don't really read BL but Given was good. So if Links is like Given, I'll try it. Ooh, Shuzo Oshimi! I'll definitely get Alice. Blood made me shake, I was that terrified. Flowers I have the whole collection, but I haven't fully read it. I think Oshimi did another work? I can't remember.

Just to correct some information, when Kodansha makes boxsets, they are priced the exact same as buying each individual volume at retail. The only benefit is any extras that might be in there and the box itself. Price tag on SDS box set 2 is $76.93, (and dividing that by 7 gives 10.99 exactly, the price of a single volume).

April looking pretty light for things I'm interested in other than Darling in the Franxx. May is what I am really looking forward to. Crazy Food Truck, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible and I Think I Turned My Childhood Friend Into a Girl. I recommend anyone that has even a passing interest in cute romcoms check out the last one. I can see it being written off by the majority of people because crossdressing/BL but everyone I have recommended it to, even those that don't read those genre's has loved it.

I really appreciate this video, thank you for starting this series. I've added A Galaxy Next Door to my list after watching this. All the other manga on my April list are continuations of existing series, so I have nothing interesting to add. As far as the continuing series, I am really looking forward to My Dress-up Darling v5, which should catch the English translation of the manga up to the final episode of the anime. For May, I'm really looking forward to v21 (the final volume) of We Never Learn, I'm actually holding off on reading the last 5 volumes of that manga until I have them all in my hands (yes, it is a harem, and not to everyone's tastes, but the way the author is ending this series is very interesting to me, as each gets her own volume).

Sakamoto Days I feel is a given but I am actually intrigued by the Tale of Genji adaptation. I have the book but it’s honestly a little intimidating to think about starting. Maybe the manga edition will help with that!

I have never watched the anime. I stopped at volume 16 because that was when I stopped following it as it was coming out (I do plan on getting through my backlog... shounen just has a ton of volumes). Seven Deadly Sins is very interesting because of how they handle character development and how characters change over the course of the series. However, you have to build into it to get there because you need enough characters. The start of the series is very rough, especially when you deal with how typical it can get and how the main character gropes the female lead. (It's one of those eyerolling "I'll do it to be different" creative decisions they do in storytelling). Unless you like any of the initial characters, you should not be reading the series, tbh. It took me around 8 or so volumes for the series to get going and I don't wish that on anyone paying for it. (I'm a library reader who likes reading things to the end just to see how the story plays out).
