MC really needs self confidence. I'm just irritated of hearing things like "she's way out of my league" and "I'm just an introvert" when you literally get along with her and she even hugs you. And he doesn't need to mind those jealous bastards, they're mostly pretty harmless as long as you get along with her. But I have to say it wasn't his fault that they fought. Telling a guy "I found someone I like" isn't a clue, and him responding congratulations isn't being dense, they're just being normal.

The sad thing is a large amount of people have a major lack of self confidence like that, and for men it often can start from girls when they’re really young and for some damn reason think that bullying and insulting someone is a way to get them to like you (unfortunately it also goes the other way). This is not helped by the societal standards they learn about and think they have to fulfil by the time they’ve finished grade school. I hope that one day people can have enough self confidence to live their life to the fullest. Too much self confidence is not good either tho.

Sadly this is realistic, I mean our society has slowly developed a "If you presume a girl is into you for XYZ reasons, and your wrong, then you are a creep/'nice guy'/whatever". As a result a lot of guys get into the mindset of "She's just being a friend" unless it's explicitly spelled out. Guys have been taught to be dense, because if they aren't, then they might be mocked and scorned. She also probably slowly Upped the Ante over time, so he never noticed a difference day by day. Kinda like the idea of the frog slowly being boiled alive. He would just write of each subtle change as just "her being comfortable as a friend" and so eventually she's kissing him and he is still writing it off like "Oh she must like the European greeting". It took her literally confessing for him to see any of her actions in a new light.

Poor guy isn't even able to process how he has three of the cutest girls in school wanting him. He's a bit of a dunce for not noticing all this, honestly. Mitsuki trying to throw him off didn't help, though. She should have just came out and said she liked him from the start, instead of trying to make him jealous. She should have known he wouldn't have caught the hint, being childhood friends and all. Now she's got two rivals to contend with. But now it's passed and Mitsuki confessed her feelings and apologized and now they are together again. Only now that have Kana and Saionji there to make it a harem. The competitiveness shown especially in this with the, “I’m going to start a fight to claim my territory!” line is very obvious. It’s the driving force behind yanderes. They see any and all females as competition and aren’t afraid to remove them from the equation if necessary. Besides, three girls fighting over your affection, especially the most popular girls, is too much for an introvert like Shun. TF kind of logic was Mitsuki thinking? The way she told Shun that she likes someone obviously made it sound to him like she didn’t have romantic feelings for him in the first place. So as her friend Shun chose to give Mitsuki his support. It’s the way she word it that implied that she was only talking to her friend (Shun) about it, as if it was a just normal conversation like they would usually do. As Shun’s childhood friend Mitsuki should’ve already known just how slow Shun is if all her past “moves” had no effect. They are both at fault. Shun for being God awful slow and Mitsuki for not being upfront and honest.
