The thing that happens a lot in these stories is. 1. They think things will always go this way and NEVER change. 2. They think the way they are treating their crush IS showing interest to them. And when another girl shows interest in their love interest it’s more like “Oh shi- my plan isn’t working need to change the plan!”. So it’s more or less lack of foresight on the FL’s part.
