Okay, fun fact. The subtitles for Whitebeard’s speech isn’t wack. It’s actually the most accurate. Jitsuzai suru means to exist. I think the way it’s done in the dub works better in terms of wording (for English), but that doesn’t change the fact that the subtitles are accurate.

Maybe a little understated one, but the one moment that initially drew me and gets me to this day is Nami stabbing her Arlong tattoo and begging Luffy for help. Kills me every time. Both the English and JP voice cast sells that moment so well. Second for me is Merry's funeral and a large chunk of Luffy V Usopp. For hype moments the celestial punch and any time Zoro uses SanzenSekai (3000 worlds)

I know this is considered sacrilegious but there are two scenes so far in the manga that has struck me harder in the English dub than in the Sub. Robin's "I want to live!" (The voice actress did it one take, and sat down crying after) and Ace's last words to Luffy. That "Thank you for loving me..." in that broken voice just...whoa.

You should react to the full ace death scene because the part I want you to really see is when luffy is crying because of aces death, the voice acting was just so perfect.

You tend to appreciate the anime specially if you're a manga only reader. Seeing the panels of the manga be brought to life, with the voice acting and the music and the cinematography just hits different. The best way to experience One Piece i believe is just to consume BOTH the manga and the anime. You get the best of both worlds.

Check out the Luffy defeating Crocodile scene. Also, Vivi shouting from the tower to stop the war, her voice acting is stellar, you really feel her desperation, especially after Pell gets exploded and in the exact moment the rain falls and everyone stops and can finally hear her. Luffy vs Usopp scene Kizaru's entrance/fighting the supernovas

I think they did really well in making it obvious that it was Sabo that approached Luffy because it gives the audience the same feelings or reactions as Luffy. With how slow the pacing was for that arc, having something revealed at the moment the character experiences it was very nice.

The comment about being able to piece together fights pretty well in manga is accurate for most One Piece readers because Oda’s art style and story telling in the manga is drawn perfectly to reflect a passage of time even in split moments. If you follow along panel by panel how you’re supposed to be reading right to left you get a clear full effect of a scene happening almost in real time. Part of the reason Oda is praised as such an unbelievable mangaka aside from just his series itself🔥

One of the reasons i read very fast and avoid looking at every detail in the manga is because, i like how the anime elaborates scene. And knowing how it's different from manga sometimes, takes away the fun. So avoid remembering exactly whatever happens in the manga so i can enjoy the anime. Plus i love luffy's voice. I cant survive without it😂

2 moments for the list- 1. The Charloss Punch. This one I think hits a lot better in the anime, just because of what more they can do with colour and art style shift for impact. 2. The first Gear4th Snakeman transformation. This one's just a lot more fun, more DBZ Buu era style for the transformation.

The anime likes to do recaps so the sabo clip you saw was probably a few episodes after the chapter you were talking about and just showed all the events leading up to the reveal. I know there is an episode where Sabo didn't get revealed and ended on a cliffhanger.

I think I had the same issue as you watching the anime, I got up to little garden and had to switch to the manga. The pacing was killing me. I'm up to the Zou arc and it's been such a fun ride. The one scene you have to check out is Luffy punching Charlos the celestial dragon, that was the one scene I had to see animated after reading it and it hits just as good or even better.

I personally feel that manga cuts the experience I. Half. I mean no audio and Color which really wrecks the emotion, I mean me personally I can’t cry to a black and white style with no sound as if we’re back with no Color or sound tv. And even sub because then I’m just reading the whole time and also the emotion in the voices is gone. But to me I’ll feel just as little emotion from a manga than from no Color or sound tv. (Maybe less because some of that tv is funny af)😊

3:07 the animation argument never worked that much for me, because shonens like one piece are made with their battles being intended for the manga, not the anime. So the way the battle flows in the page is much truer to the way the fights supposed to go down, as opposed to the often either faster or somehow slower pace fights tend to go in the anime. 2 great examples are dbz and Jojo. Despite how good their fights are, db, especially with Freeza, dragged it’s feet on the fight, and the battle with Jotaro and Dio in Jojo, despite how good it was in the anime, suffered from a lot of issues trying to translate the fluidity of the fight in the page to the screen. Jotaro and Dio were literally just flying for large segments of their fights, because the anime needed to keep them in the air for their dialogue to get out, meanwhile in the manga, on a still page you are able to read their dialogue and understand that they aren’t flying, just jumping around the city with their stands.
