What about when it comes to publishing online? Self publishing is something I'm becoming more interested it, but I still don't have a solid foundation to start printing things just yet.

Could you please explain more what you mean by publishing online? Would it be like publishing an ebook and selling it in your online store, or rather a free deal like publishing on Tapas / Webtoon and waiting for monetization opportunities? Or do you have something else in mind, so that I may be more accurate in my answer? 🙂

@@SabrinaKaufmann hi! I would be interested on this question as well! I was thinking about webtoon, but the ebook seems interesting too! Anyway your video is super interesting!! Thank you for all the information🙏

@@irenecarlotto2982 Hi Irene! Thanks so much for your kind feedback ♥ Weell concerning ebooks it's definitely not my cup of tea and it hasn't worked out for me so far haha ~ I'm usually doing a legal deposit for both physical book + ebook at the same time. The ebook though being just a PDF file that I'm selling through my online shop. So far I just got a few sales for my colouring book but I know my audience is more into physical copies at conventions. I've met a few people though who've told me they've published ebooks (+ physical versions) on Amazon, maybe you'll want to look more into this? Concerning webtoons no matter the platform, I'd say the best way to get started and grow your audience for free is to already have enough pages to last for a while. Publishing regularly will work wonders and after a while you'll be able to be featured in the trending or up-and-coming sections which will boost your visibility tremendously. I noticed a big boost with my webcomic on Tapas after a few months posting two pages a month, and it grew the more months I posted. Once I stopped posting because I didn't have any time to draw anymore, it totally slowed down, so I'd definitely recommend always having some buffer pages to keep on posting even if life happens and you can't draw for a while. It truly helps developping your community. And after a certain number of subs, you can unlock monetization like Tapas ink and ad revenue, but keep in mind that it's a really small amount. To give you an estimate, I have accumulated 7$ ad revenue with 140K views over the last few years 🙂 If I remember correctly, Webtoon offers more monetization options. On the French-speaking version, there was a sort of ranking a few months ago where the creators could receive money by Webtoon depending on how popular their comics got, and they also organise some contests to find new authors for paid series from time to time. I'm more specialized in physical books but this is what I've been able to test concerning online publishing so far. Hope this somehow answers your questions and helps you see how it could work out 😊

I wanted to ask if I live in country that doesn't have manga publishers. How can I find company to print my manga. So I will distribute it by my self since there is no publishers in my country
@SabrinaKaufmann3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for not answering before, I've been moving and it was kinda hectic 😅 Well basically any printer can print your manga, you can look up some local ones, or look up online printing companies by just googling "printing company (+your city or country). Especially if you intend to distribute it yourself, the only thing you need is really just having the book printed, and pretty much any printer offers this. Though most are not specialised in actual manga print, you most likely won't have the specific manga paper and looks of the manga you can find in stores, so two options for you: - If it's a local printer you can meet in person, maybe show them one of your favourite manga and ask if they have the possibility to print it like this. As it's their job, they'll most likely recognize the binding / paper / etc, and make an offer. - If you do it online, you'll mostly have some basic print option that will make your manga look like a classical book. Some offer the option to change paper and several options (eg. which paper, soft cover, hard cover, jacket, etc), so you can look to work with these. I don't know if you already downloaded the guidebook I created for this video, you'll find some names and lists of printers I've been using or got recommended, the paper types commonly used in print in case this is important to you, and other useful stuff to get started 😊 mailchi.mp/4c18960d52f6/publishing-freebie Hope this helps, and good luck for your own manga! Is it already finished or still in "project" phase? 😊

Back in the Day, I also want to make my own manga. But I life in Germany and their don't know, how to promote Manga. They think, you must have a Story with Greenpeace or something,that have nothing to do with it. And after that, they have Give up, to promote Manga as I know... I must have Independent to sell my Manga have I think, but I see now, Amazon or other Companies. I have not give up yet...!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm from Luxembourg and also gotten to know several German manga publishers since we get them a lot here. I think overall, it's more strict with publishers, so usually I'd recommend self publishing and promoting yourself if you want to get started, and especially if you want to have your complete freedom in creation 🙂
