Mangalore Seafood Experience - Part 1: That day we started off from the fishing harbor in Mangalore. The fishing harbor was very busy much before we reached there. Some of the fishermen's boats were coming back with their catch, while some were leaving to the sea for that day's catch. The market was also very active with arrivals, sorting, auctions, and sales. Mangalore is one of the most famous coastal cities in India for Seafood.
There are several seafood restaurants in the city which are famous, and which offer wonderful delicacies to their customers. It was impossible for us to visit all the seafood restaurants in just 3 days. Hence, I followed the suggestions of Mr. Martin, a Food N Travel friend who is from Changanassery but living in Mangalore for several years now. Our first seafood spot was Giri Manja's. We had to drive through a small lane to reach the famous Giri Manja's Restaurant. Parking is not that easy anywhere near this restaurant, but the place is famous for its seafood meals. The welcome drink itself was a treat for me - Kokum Rasam. Kokum Rasam or Kokam is a South Indian soup (rasam) made with Kokum. It is spicy, sour, and refreshing. For the rest, you must watch the video to enjoy it better.
മംഗലാപുരത്ത് പോയാൽ നല്ല മീൻ വിഭവങ്ങൾ കഴിക്കണം എന്ന് പറയുന്നതിൽ ഒരു അതിശയോക്തിയും ഇല്ല. ഞങ്ങൾ മീൻ രുചികൾ ആസ്വദിക്കുന്നതിനു മുൻപ് ഫിഷ് ഹാർബറിലേയ്ക്ക് പോയി. മീൻ വരുന്നതും, അതിനെ തിരിക്കുന്നതും, ലേലം ചെയ്യുന്നതും, വെട്ടി കഴുകി വിൽക്കുന്നതും ഒക്കെ കണ്ടു. അതിനു ശേഷം മീൻ രുചികൾ ആസ്വദിക്കുവാനായി പോയി. മംഗലാപുരത്ത് അനേകം മീൻ രുചികൾ വിൽക്കുന്ന ഊണ് കടകൾ ഉണ്ട്. അതിൽ ഏറ്റവും ആദ്യം ഞങ്ങൾ പോയത് ഗിരി മന്ജാസ് എന്ന കടയിലേക്കാണ്. അവിടെ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് കിട്ടിയ കൊക്കും എന്ന പാനിയത്തിനു നാടൻ രസത്തിനോട് നല്ല യോജിപ്പുണ്ട് - പക്ഷെ പുളിയിൽ അല്പം മുൻപാണ് ആണ് എന്ന് മാത്രം. ഇനി ഗിരി മന്ജാസിന്റെ കാഴ്ചകൾ നിങ്ങൾ വിഡിയോയിൽ ആസ്വദിക്കൂ.

Hello Ebin, Even though your tag line is "smile ever", one of your videos made me cry. I always wanted to travel and enjoy foods. When I was in India, time passed with studies and other stuff. 25 years ago I have moved to Canada. After that visited Kerala once in 2 years for 30 or 40 days at a time. Never had the opportunity to travel as I wanted and enjoy food. I had a close friend who is also very passionate about the idea of travel and enjoy food. Unfortunately he is no more. Another person was my father in-law who also enjoyed the same with me whenever I came home. He is also no more. I studied at REC Surathkal (NIIT is the new name I believe). When you showed the clips of REC Surathkal beach, light house and the surroundings, I realized the memories of those days are still green in my mind. You are doing an amazing job. Through your videos, your friends (Abhilash, Vishnu etc) are also known to us. We love your wife and children. We felt they are also part of the family after watching your videos with your family. When we stay away from home for many years and the sense of old age approaching will make us to cherish everything from home. When it is about food, it is double special. Keep doing wonderful videos as you always do. We are eagerly waiting for it. Next time when I come to Kerala, one week before I will go to some of your videos and pick some nice restaurants for enjoying their food. Thanks for doing a great service to us through your videos.
