In Mangalore, any special occasion or a festival is not complete without Sanna, Mangalorean special idli's. Sannas are Idli's made using toddy, which is used for fermenting the rice and dal batter. Toddy is a beverage obtained from the coconut tree.

Sannas have a very soft and spongy texture. It just melts in the mouth. Most often served with pork bafath or any curries.
Sannas are also made with yeast. Add 2 tsp of yeast in lukewarm water and leave it for about 5-10 minutes. Add it to the batter and leave it for fermenting.
