The red was still there for a few seconds before being nullified, at least in the anime. But idk how much time that actually was, because of how weird anime time is. TL:DR, yes the red was nullified, but it wasn't instant, so the durability was still in play.

Speaking of sukuna using different people as a vessel. What do you think would happen if sukuna took over maki's body? Since maki has no cursed energy wouldn't that make sukuna unable to use cursed energy as well? Or would he bypass that and have really powerful techniques within a strong body? Would sukuna even be able to take over or would maki's body overwrite sukuna's soul similar to what happened when toji was summoned by the seance technique?

Mahoraga’s sword of extermination is pretty weak if you think about it. Sukuna blocked it with his arm. Its covered with positive cursed energy which is strong against curses i guess but its still weak
