I like the Theory that Yuji is heavenly restricted by not having his own inate technique, Kenjaku likely made him to be the best of all worlds, having a maybe unawakened heavenly restricted body like maki but rather than his ce being taken, his cursed technique gets taken, while having the ability to be a walking cursed object that's able to obsorb multiple techniques that technically don't really belong to him, that has potential to become the next evolution of a sorcerer, a sorcerer that is everything the world of Jujutsu has to offer

I think that's right on the money, *except* I don't think it's technically a "Heavenly Restriction". It's an artificial one, manufactured by Kenjaku like you said, an experiment to see how much extra physical power a sorcerer with their innate technique removed would be able to access. Obviously it wouldn't be Toji levels, but a person like that could have a leg up on other sorcerers since they can focus on pure cursed energy techniques like reverse CT and black flash...AND could potentially *still* get a CT through the use of cursed objects. The potential of Itadori is actually higher because he didn't have an innate CT.

So I think he had a heavenly restriction EXACTLY like pre awakening maki. And after eating the fingers and consuming the other death paintings he just got a massive pool of CE on top of a heavenly restricted body. Giving him an optimized best of both worlds scenario where he’s a powerful physical fighter who can hit black flashes. Putting that on paper and even giving him a curse technique down the line makes him a force to be reckoned with. And makes a lot of sense as a main character who has to learn the very basics and then outclasses people who’ve been sorcerers to their whole lives with just a few months of experience. He’s like a min maxed character in dnd.

Look all the way back to the juvenile detention center arc and we can see Sukuna denouncing Megumi for running away from a chance to grow stronger

Jogo wants to to create "curse spirit era", but mentions that if you revive sukuna, era of curses will still come. Before reading manga i actually thought that Sukuna is curse spirit too, so that made sense. But now when we definetely know that Sukuna is a human, i don't understand why Jogo thought he will somehow bring curses to dominate the world. So yeah great question, I don't necessarily think Jogo thought Sukuna was a curse, but just someone who probably aligned with their goals of taking out the powerful sorcerers, and then if the sorcerers are gone, no one's going to be around to stop the curses from wiping out the rest of humanity. Basically all Jogo had to fear was Sukuna himself, which he clearly did. And in their little deal they made before they fought, Sukuna promised to obey orders from Jogo if he touched him. So in the hypothetical case where he'd somehow won, they could have just 'made' Sukuna help their cause. So I think there's that element to it, plus Kenjaku was feeding them information to manipulate them, so who knows what he actually led them to believe about Sukuna, I'm sure that at least had some effect on Jogo's belief that Sukuna would help their cause. But hey, for all we know, maybe Jogo did think Sukuna was a curse, this is just my 2c! Thank you again 🙏🏻

There's just one problem with this theory. It doesn't explain how he can see cursed spirits after Sukuna left his body. A Heavenly Restriction is pretty severe. Maki needed glasses to see cursed spirits up until Mai died. Also how can he have a Heavenly Restriction if he can use Blood Art techniques or have demon arms or perform Black flashes? Exactly how much cursed energy does Yuji have if he's literally supposed to be an entity with next to no cursed energy? Remember that people like Toji and Maki are monsters because they use Cursed Tools. Yuji doesn't.

What if, the more cursed energy you have as a bearer of Heavenly Restriction, the greater the boost you get in physical might after sacrificing it? It was even stated several times, like with his first fight with Toji, that Yujin is STRONGER than Maki initially but we also see that during his training with the corpse dolls that his output and amount of cursed energy is actually on the HIGH end. If Yuji has a heavenly restriction, which I think you could make a great argument for, I don't think it's one that limits his cursed energy. Rather, it seems more like it makes him incapable of creating his own innate technique or creating that initial spark of cursed energy. Which actually makes a great deal of thematic sense. Kenjaku MADE him to be a cage for Sukuna. Having a body that can absorb foreign sources of cursed energy and techniques and make them your own in exchange for never having any of your own to start with fits in line with that pretty well.

There's one part to this theory that I would like to add. In the volume of JJK that has Naoya on it, Gege drew the Zennin family tree in his notes. The Zennin family has two missing heads before Naobito, one of them was Toji's father. I feel like it's possible that Yuji is related to one of those missing heads. Grandpa Itadori was alone at the end of his life, what if he's one of the missing heads? He could be Toji's father and this might explain why he died alone, because he was living in secrecy with Yuji's father. It's either that or Yuji's mom could be related to the Zennin as well.

I think mechamaru's restriction was another hint to Yuji's possible restriction. He was able to obtain a normal healthy body, while maintaining all the power his restriction gave him. His body may not have been superhuman, or even noteworthy, but it was far better than what his restriction dictated he could have. He showed us that the bonds of heavenly restriction are not unbreakable, it is possible to cheat the system.

I like this theory. It would make sense if he was heavenly restricted + having the ability to absorb therefore learn jujutsu from others, that would make the best end game power up for Yuji that we haven’t yet seen in writing.

I've been wondering if Sukuna wasnt just a conjoined twin but had a vestigial twin (a parasitic twin) or a vanishing twin where one egg absorbs the other. And thats why he appears like that. It could be that Kenjaku found the twin DNA within Sukuna and used that to create an egg that he used to birth Yuji. So Yuji never properly existed in the Heian era and having been consumed by or a parasite of Sukuna is why he's so versed when it comes to souls and has been able to learn the soul disrupting hits.

This is a really good theory and it would help the sorcerers defeat sukuna in a 1v1 which is a much better outcome and satisfactory than gojo coming back and all the rest jumping him as gojo has nothing left to accomplish in terms of his character arc as he had a really good one and bringing him back just to fight would ruin it and yuji deserves to beat sukuna 1v1 as sukuna took everything from him and the yorozu statement would make a lot more sense

In my mind I don’t think it’s heavenly restriction but more so tampering with the soul on Kenjaku’s part. In my mind at least, there’s something to how Toji could take over the grandsons body in shibuya that suggests that maybe as a sideffect of the restriction the body and soul are one in the same, which implies that usually there is some degree of separation between the body and soul. Given that my theory is true on some level, I’d say I think Kenjaku experimented on Yuji’s soul that at least mimicks full or near full physical heavenly restriction, which allows him to consume cursed objects without issue and gives him a superhuman body even before CE control. Edit: I think my full theory on this is that Sukuna is someone with 2 souls, initially born with extreme talent for jujutsu, much in line with Mechamaru, but as a twin his twin had some degree of heavenly restriction and through Sukuna being a genius, he managed to mostly fuse his brothers soul into his body, thus why he’s so hedonistic, he grew up without being able to experience the simple pleasures of life. Yuji was likely built in a similar way from the jump by Kenjaku as an attempt to recreate Sukuna, hence why he’s so disappointed in Yuji, they have similar starting points but since Yuji doesn’t have the same hedonistic and deranged mindset, he disappoints him because he knows exactly what someone like him is capable of.

i think the most likely is they were born as conjoined twins and yuji dies and in exchange sucking got control of the body as well as massive cursed energy pools. only thing i’m really stuck on is how yuji would be from “back then” but not have memories, as well as not being a cursed object or vessel as far as we know. maybe he’s been a vessel this whole time and there’s been another “yuji” being layed on top of similar to megumi

The idea Yuji is some kind of descendant of Sukuna's line, or a cursed womb from that era, that's related to him. (I mean the twin things cool but feels waaaay to far fetched) Unless they where twins but Yuji died before being born and Kenjaku brought him back as a cursed womb some how, only to somehow revive him again. "reborn" in a sense. But seriously, bro's starting to look like Ichigo, if Aizen was one of his parents. Going to end up being part of all the clans or something, He'll have lineage to Sukuna on his dad's side, Kenjaku was part his mother (plus who ever the actual body he inhabited belonged to which is still "unconfirmed") while being a cursed womb which makes him part curse. If that's not this verses mash up of soul reaper, quincy, hollow idk what is XD

I like to think Yuji does have a heavenly restriction BUT he's bypassed the lack of curse energy thing by consuming and hosting Sukuna, which has let him grow his curse energy. The reason he hasn't shown an innate technique is probably because his energy supply is just too low for it, the plan was probably Yuji eating the finger in the first place. Not just to be a perfect vessel but to overcome the innate downside of the restriction. Using Sukuna's bloodline to do so is just icing on the cake.

It's possible that's part of it. It just doesn't explain why Yuji is the only Cursed Womb that has super human strength or why he hasn't been able to see curses till Megumi showed up. I kinda think Yuji's ability to affect the soul came from Sukuna being inside of him. Whenever Sukuna defeats a worthy opponent his soul connects to theirs for a second. It could be a cursed energy trait he inherented from Sukuna since he's a cursed object soaked in Sukuna's CE.
