That's the thing with Pitties. They are normal dogs, not demons, who play, love, are daffy, fun-loving, often full of life, almost always full of love.. In short, they are just like other dogs and are not crazed killing machines. Just like any other breed or mix, they are conditioned or taught, or trained to be animals who fight or hurt others by bad owners, bad people. There aren't bad dogs but there are bad people, bad owners. Pit Bulls suffer terribly because of a widespread stereotype, an undeserved, unearned, ugly reputation spread by ignorance & fear. I don't have a home right now. If I did I would have a couple of Pitties or a Pit Bull & a Kitty. I would love on them, protect them, care for them, & surround them with love much as I am able, just like any other dog, without fear that they would turn on me. I have had dogs, and cats all my life. I love them and do not fear them. And I know my limits & abilities, strengths & weaknesses, desires & needs. I make sure, as far as possible, about theirs. I learn about theirs from Vets, techs & Nurses, and lots of research. Yes, it is work but no one is born knowing these things. No one. We have to learn them. But the blessings & happiness we can find are so worthwhile. Ignorance is not bliss.

So glad they are showing pit bulls to be friendly. It isn't the breed it is the way the dog has been treated. Pitbulls are my favourite breed. They are so loving and protective of their "pack".

But first verify they aren't a rescue with bad history. Because sometimes dogs with trauma will still have behavioral issues even when with a loving new owner who cares for them properly.

Still, I've seen too many stories about pits showing them wagging their tail and nuzzling people when they're literally skin and bones and have every right to hate people. So, I'll just put them in a cage with a swallow or two of dirty water and 1 meal a week. Let the punishment fit the crime.

The way neglected and traumatised dogs adjust to humans again is nothing short of amazing. They aren't savage etc, it's the ones who have a savage owner who is the problem. Great rescues.

When I got my boy Terry adopted from Bulgaria, he had sarcoptic mange. It took a while to find out, because in Germany it is not common. A few pills helped in treating him. Thankfully, my other dog, who shared the dog beds and everything with him, did not catch it.

If a neglected animal shows signs of wanting to fight, fight with them. Let them know they have a good angel in their corner. A few years ago I was just a 7 year old little girl when my older sister left a man who wasn't not only good towards her but to his cat. When I first saw Snare, the cat's name, after months of not seeing him I was shocked. Here was this 2 year old young cat covered in wounds from pulling out his own fur to where fur was actually stuck to the wounds. It took a while to undo all of the damage that had been caused. With getting him looking like a normal cat again he was also throwing up food so we took him to the vet, found out he had a food allergy to Meow Mix so we changed his as well as our other cats' food a few times until we found a brand that not only worked well with Snare but also our other two cats at the time also liked it. The main problem was his fear of men. He would bolt out of the room anytime he saw my dad or brother, that eventually went away when he slowly realized he was safe. But despite being covered in wounds when I first saw him I looked him into the eyes, I didn't see a sad cat, I saw a cat who needed someone in his corner, he had a fighting spark in his green eyes that screamed "I want to live!" it was a fight. It was fight that Snare didn't have to fight alone. I had to fight to, I had to fight my parents to even let me keep him cause all they saw was sick defected cat that they wanted to abandoned at a shelter. Keep in mind I was 7 years old and had watched a whole lot shows like this on Animal Planet and knew animals with a fear of people weren't gonna make it out of the shelter alive. I wasn't gonna let that happen to a cat who was young and all he needed was someone, anyone, to be in his corner to let him know that everything was gonna be ok, that no one was ever gonna hurt him ever again. To let him know that he's loved. Once the fight ended there were two winners that day. Snare won his life and I well I won a best friend that I would ever know, loved, and miss after 12 years of owning him. Snare, at the age of 14 years old passed away 12/23/2020 due to old age with me, my older sister, and my mom in the room with him with me holding his paw. My mom never thought Snare would make it to the age he was, and neither did I. I feared I would wake up as a kid and see that Snare passed away. But he fought to live. Snare lived a life of cuddles, love, family, adventure as an indoor outdoor cat, but most of all he taught me to never give up on someone if they show signs of wanting to fight to live. Snare's life left a paw print in my life that will never be filled even if I do get another cat. His life also left a scar on me, me remembering what he looked like at the age of 7 years old. But I would do it all over again if it meant saving the life of a cat who needed someone in their corner.

Pitbulls are not mean, instead it is the people who are cruel and mean towards the dogs. If anything, pitbulls are so adorable and if the right people have them in their lives then people will start to understand that pitbulls have a reputation which is undeserved. I have been around them and they were so loving.

I think it's wonderful what they do so I'm not trying to knock them for this but I see the pit bull still has entropion because he still keeps closing his eyes so it needs to be operated on, maybe it's too expensive for the facility to do it?

the skin condition needs to be sufficiently treated first else it will end up with infections in the surgical sites a lot easier then would otherwise also with the skin recovering and stopping swelling surgery might not even be needed for that, don't want to overshoot it or pup will get a much nastier set of eye issues
