Mango talk: Tommy Atkins // Good or bad?

Here in Ecuador South america Tommy is the most grown mango variety, is a good mango and we love it green or ripe.

Tommy Atkins is also extremely popular in Southern Africa where it is commercially planted in most of the countries. A really beautiful mango but outclassed by many others. It's an early season cultivar in this part of the world.

I'm up in Boston and I just had my first Tommy mango, I was very impressed. I don't like overly sweet fruit and had a great texture and aroma. I like it!

BORN HERE DAYTONA BEACH ⛱️ 1956 RAISED HERE --- FAMILY IN MIAMI ---- JUST planted a Glenn yesterday. --- I have two big mulberry trees and 1 Grand size mulberry tree and I make brandy from them. ---- I decided it's time for Mango brandy ----- I'm also in the process of getting some bees 🐝🐝🐝🐝 ----- I have this one cactus 🌵 that flowers with white flowers the size of a paper plate and the bees 🐝🐝🐝 love them ---- I've had it since 2004 and have been cutting ✂️ pruning it back for years and replanted the cuttings. --- South side of the yard is beautiful in the morning when they all are in bloom ---- I was fortunate in high school to of already had two bee 🐝🐝🐝 hives for a scout merit badge ---- Feel for you on the teachers pay ---- It's hard work teaching, testing and putting up with students who are the reasons for gray hair --- I used to teach at one of the States campuses. ----- Thanks for the video information ---- Take care

I love a good Tommy Atkins Mango! It does get a lot of hate. I don't think it has too much fiber. TA I think is very versatile in what you can do with it. It's a great juicing mango also.

Does usually take long to ripen? I had it in the cupboard for a week and the skin is getting shriveled but it’s still hard 😢

The tool is good for both things. When I need a longer picker I use the common wire basket style picker but I have installed it on the longest extendable painting pole I could find at Home Depot.

They are an OK fruit. But they are not Mangos. If they were mangos, they would be the lowest quality ones. They look very attractive, have along shelf life, they are very prolific bearer trees, relatively low maintenance, but fibrous and no mango flavour.

If I only worked 75% of the year, I imagine my pay wouldn't be great either. Nothing wrong with working for what you earn. Stop begging for more money and start producing value so you can be paid better.
