I was very curious how much the secondary shoot form the largest one would grow. It seems to be a runt and perhaps some gardeners not think it was worth keeping. I wonder if that is typical. I would let it grow as an experiment just to see if it matures, dies or remains a runt. It seems to be healthy enough. I hope you keep it. Maybe you could twist it around the main trunk if its still green enough. I strongly suspect the reason why a lot of these -- and other fruits -- croak on us is because the resulting plants are from hybrids that are bred for commercial production. I have read that many places and they have warned us any resulting fruit may not be desirable. The resulting plants from hybrids therefore are not "true" to the parent plant or resemble sister plants as the genetics are scrambled every time in unpredictable ways. As you have noted yourself, the growth rates seems to be different even though they had generally the same environment. That you got three out of four plants from four attempts is pretty good. You are far better gardener than I. Out of all of the mangoes I tried to grown, just one became a healthy tree. I want to say ten died over the years or the seed was dead when I cut it out of the fruit even though the fruit itself was good. I was going to say that having a tree on the side like that may not look perfectly balanced but does it always have to be? With the plant to the side like that, you have room to put another plant in there and it looks like what you did but that pod did not live. I do things all the time and then forget I did them. In my garden I find stuff growing and I don’t remember what it is or that I put it there like the time I found garlic scapes growing. And now that my sole-survivor is has matured to two feet (shorter than your tallest), I have noticed that it is starting to act more like a vine with the branches both horizontal and the main vertical trunk. They have those very slender, green (rather than woody) grabby vine-like branches with the curly-cues at the end like morning glories that want to latch on to another plant and crawl up it rather grow up like than a proper tree. That was a surprise and its the reason I looked up your video this morning. I was hoping you could tell me more about that. None of yours however has that characteristic -- at least not yet. I would prefer a tree to a vine. I hope you keep posting updates. :)

This is by far my favorite channel. I have 2 mango trees , one outside and and one in a small planter. Both 7 months old. They both look healthy , but have not grown after initial spurt. Which is fine with me . I’ll probably bring it , inside . I love the leafs. Thnx for the update.

Love your mango updates! I recently started experimenting with mango seeds. They germinate but the young plants end up dying. I just got one that seems to be happy and I hope it will make it! It’s about 6 inches tall and it has three healthy leaves. Fingers crossed! Thank you for sharing! ❤️

Thank you :). Good luck with yours. Mangos can be a little tricky :/. I had a few ones that end up dying, and Im not sure why.

Waiting for part 3. By the way, would you try harvesting mangoes indoor or outdoor?
@NordicPlantLover2 жыл бұрын
They havnt been doing that well lately, so I am waiting a bit with part 3. We can’t grow them outdoors here in sweden, it gets too cold in the winter :(. So if I ever get to that point it could give fruit, it has to be indoors.

I think maybe mango are like avocado and each seed will be a unique genetic specimen. Meaning there will be different characteristics for each one that grows. That would make sense since, like avocados there are hundreds of varieties of mango as well.

Yeah, I think you are right :). My mangoes are not doing that well atm... I will post an update during the summer soon i think.
