Mangrove Snake Bite Verses Hornet Sting, 1st 24 Hours. Part 1. Do Not Replicate!

I allowed a Mangrove snake to chew on my arm to see what would happen, bite was 2-2.5 minutes with active chewing at 11:20 am. I fully allowed the snake to
Chew on me to facilitate the saliva/venom into my arm. I have not seen much documented about bites from this species and wanted to learn more Initially, I noted the superficial bite seemed to Bleed more freely than normal before clotting. Within 20 minutes I could feel a tingle but nothing more, over the next few hours it locally swelled. Eventually, my arm around elbow swelled a great deal, was hot and a dull ache. Pain was managed the next day with Tylenol. Video Notes - roughly my reaction over a 24 hour period. I am allergic to Yellow jackets and bald faced hornets. In the past I’ve swelled up to a similar degree from their sting. Is it worse ? Time will tell, I’m noting this process.

I indicated that as a hobbyist interested in purchasing a mangrove snake I felt this video had particular merit because it addressed the snakes behavior and documented a potential reaction to the snake bite. It's like these "ppl" have been shielded and babied most of their lives imo anyway. Too many ppl are out there trying to make life hard including government. It's informative and needed information that as hobbyists we would all ( who are interested in the effect of mangrove venom on the body) need to know if we want to own this species and making a purchase of this species need to know before investing the rine to pirchase said mangrove species should know before making that investment if tiime and money. Just my opinion on the matter of the you tube and ppl taking things out of context and not looking at the informative information of the content you provide. I get and understand the reasons your making the videos and posting the way you do to KZbin. @@donnagreen3275the thing is, it’s not even people determining it anymore, it’s the KZbin AI that deems whether a video is appropriate or not at first. And a lot of times the people who receive the appeal just go with the initial judgement the computer made. A person doesn’t decide until you appeal. As someone who works in AI training, it’s absolutely ridiculous to rely on an algorithm to determine what’s appropriate in terms of “danger” where there are so many nuances.

I did something similar to show my nieces that even if a snake bit it isn't all that big of a deal. Who gets allergic reactions from GARTER SNAKES! They learned a lesson all right, just not the one I was wanting to teach!

@user-vf4xf5wr9i Garter snakes are mildly venomous with rear fangs. Ive been bit many times by them when doing relocation. The bite puffs up and itches/stings like a spider bite if they get me good. Its not bad or anything but people who have allergic reactions could have a way worse reaction.

I've handled a lot of snakes and been tagged a lot, but that was the first one that wanted to hold on and chew. And I let it to show the girls how it was no big deal. I guess the joke was on me! And yeah, wasp stings are the worst! That's a jump around and swear occurrence. Love your videos, keep em coming!

Love you Kevin, you're okay. I had a reaction when I was bit by a baby white throated monitor. I had a scratchy sore throat for a couple of hours and I'm not allergic normally.

You definitely got a reaction to that bit but since you're allergic to bee sting this shouldn't have been a surprise. Very informative for people who are thing about getting snakes.

Wasp and bee venom is totally different. I have no abnormal reaction to bee stings but require an epipen for yellow jackets. It has also turned out I have no abnormal reaction to normal european viper venom. Having said that, 1 star, cannot recommend, was kept in hospital for 48 hours and on serious pain medication as well as anti blood clotting medication after receiving anti-venom.

If I recall correctly, the Boomslang venom's potency was discovered a similar way. Thankfully highly venomous colubrids are rare. Aside from the two most well known ones the only others I know are the Rhabdophis keelback genus of which several or potentially all members might also have a dangerous hemotoxic venom. It's interesting that all the discovered dangerous colubrids have developed the same sort of venom despite the latter Rhabdophis not even being closely related to each other two.

I got a pretty good infection by a mangrove monitor lizard bite once. I understand monitors have primitive venom, the docs kept me in the hospital for about five days. Kind of a drag but I never felt like I was really sick or anything, more sick of doctors and nurses then the saliva of my lizard

I would say vomiting, labored breathing, rapid heart rate, low blood pressure, wonky vision, dizziness. The feeling that something is really wrong. Symptoms of extreme allergic reaction are very similar.

Definite allergic reaction…until Zyrtec came out I had an Eppinpen in my car, at work and in my house. So nice not to need that anymore and be without turkey platter size hives and able to eat more than like 20 foods.

My first pet snake that I bought from a actual pet store was a hognose. He ate toads of course and I was able to get him to eat pinkies after a while but one day he got my finger and worked his mouth all the way up to past the knuckle. He was latched on for a good little while and I had four distinct puncture marks and my middle finger swole up, couldn't bend it. I've actually never known anyone else or heard of anyone else getting invenominated by these rear fang snakes.

I'm getting venom tested soon from my Allergist. I want an Asian Vine Snake but it's also rear-ranged venomous and not known to be medically significant. The thing is that I'm allergic to bees and wasp venoms. Anaphylaxis. I need to find out if I am allergic to their venom beforehand to know what type of precautions I need to take if I get one.
