I've heard from a friend of mine who happened to be in Mani Ratnam's set in a 2004 movie,..that mani Ratnam seem to look soft spoken and gentle but actually he was shocked to know from the sets that he can speak the finest ' Pettai rap bad words ' effortlessly and loudly.. ofcourse as he said about 'man management' ,.may be this is also one of the ways to get the work done from others :-)
