Dave unlocks the front door of the mansion. Razor has the cassette tape, and then records her piano play on the tape, and then gets the fruit drinks and the bowl of wax fruit. She gives them to Green Tentacle. She goes to Green Tentacle's room, and then plays the tape with her piano play. She signs a sheet with her and Green Tentacle, and then mails it with the tape. She gets the contract, and then shows it to Green Tentacle. When Weird Ed comes out of his room, she gets his hamster, and then the card key that he's been hiding. She gives the card key to Dave. She microwaves the hamster. She finds Bernard at the radioactive pool, putting that water in a glass jar, and then tries to give the hamster to Bernard. Bernard: I do not want to touch that. She gives the hamster back to Weird Ed. Weird Ed: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY HAMSTER? Weird Ed kills Razor. Razor's tombstone says "In good riddance." Dave gets the record from Green Tentacle's room. He records that record on the cassette tape. He plays it in the room with the chandelier, and then gets the old rusty key. Dr. Fred plays a game, and then sets the password to his lab. Dave sees the password. Bernard stays in the room to make sure Dr. Fred does not change the password. Dave opens the locks to Dr. Fred's lab. Bernard calls the meteor police. The meteor police gets Purple Meteor out of the way. Bernard microwaves the radioactivite water in a jar. Bernard: RADIOACTIVE STEAM! Bernard spins around, and then dies. Bernard's tombstone says "Another one bites the dust." Dave picks up the meteor police's badge. Dave enters the lab. Purple Tentacle catches Dave. Purple Tentacle: I caught you now. Dr. Fred isn't paying me for nothing. Green Tentacle enters the lab. Green Tentacle: That person is a member of my band. Leave him alone. Green Tentacle takes care of Purple Tentacle. Dave did not need the meteor police badge after all. Dave is in the room with Dr. Fred and Sandy. Dr. Fred: Purple Tentacle, someone else has entered the room. I will destroy the lab in 2 minutes. Dr. Fred turns on the self-destruct switch. Dave enters the room that the meteor used to be in. Dave turns off the meteor control switch. Dr. Fred: I'm back to normal. I need to disable the self-destruct countdown that I started. Dr. Fred disables to self-destruct countdown that he started. Dr. Fred releases Sandy. Dr. Fred: Dave, I'm sorry that your friends have died. I would like to thank them for risking their lives to help you save your girlfriend. Dave, since you were part of the plan to get rid of the metoer, how can I repay you? Dave: You can bring my friends back alive, Dr. Fred: Sorry, that's impossible! Dave: I got nothing more to say. Sandy: This also makes me sad. At least, I'm glad you're okay.

I won the game in many ways, but I never could figure out how to win the game without Bernard.

What the kids offer is differences in how the game ends, particularly 1) how to get past Purple and 2) how to deal with the meteor. The easiest is the meteor police (called by Bernhard), it takes care of both, it simply arrests the meteor and leaves the badge behind that lets you get past purple. Without Bernhard, you have to take care of the meteor yourself. With everyone but Wendy, this means you have to use the Edsel. With Syd or Razor, record their piano playing (after you got the rusty key already, or that rusty key becomes unobtainable), play it to Green, take the tape he gives you and mail it to the publisher, then Green will get you past Purple. With Michael, you have to develop the film and give it to Ed, and he'll get you past Purple. With Wendy, you show the contract to Purple and hand it to the meteor (as seen in the video). With Jeff.... umm... you can fix the phone if you don't want to take Bernhard along, otherwise he's pretty useless. He's basically the "take this guy if you want to do a "without Bernhard" play"...

What if you put the meteor inside the grate at the bottom of the pool, then refilled it with water? Also, which ending is canon with Day of the Tentacle? I heard it was ending #3b. Still have yet to play that, would like to someday. Played the original MM on the NES as a kid; was so addicting.

It's interesting the fact that when it says "I couldn't have done it alone" it shows Dave and Sandy, and in the nes version it is Wendy

It always shows Dave if Dave is alive. I saw someone go through Dr. Fred's lab with Razor, and since Dave was alive, the ending shows Dave and Sandy. If Dave is dead, the character who rescued Sandy is shown.

Can you not drown the meteor in the pool? Or any other endings? Like the joining the family to raid the lab? There are a lot more endings on the Nintendo version then. 😔😊

I wonder if drowning the meteor is possible, now that you mention it. If that's possible, it does require killing a character, because a character has to hold the meteor, someone has to drain the pool, someone has to be in the pool area, and then the pool has to be refilled, and then both the character and the meteor drown.

@@bennel3588 This is impossible because once you enter the lab you can no longer switch to a new kid or save the game. So even if you drained the pool you couldn't switch to the new kid and turn the valve under the house to fill the pool resulting in the ending you want. Also if you drain the pool BEFORE entering the lab, it will stop the self destruct timer for the pool to blow up the house... but you can still push the red button in the bottom of the pool which results in the same catastrophe. I'm just not sure you can feed the meteor to the plant on the 3rd floor... I think that might have been an NES only thing but this is an ending video, not a "how to win the game" video... it probably exists on the PC version.

@@NeoRizer Now, I wonder if the meteor can die in the pool. I do not think there's a way to put the meteor in the pool. The pool still needs to have water in it. I wish I could see a video of someone trying to put the meteor in the radioactive pool.

Just FYI: Maniac Mansion came out 3 years before Hugos House of Horrors. The similarities aren't coincidental, just wanted to make sure you knew which came first.
