Yes he is a legend I saw them with Metallica of the Injustice for all tour and their operation mind crime theatrical tour and they opened up with queen of the reich one of the most difficult notes to hit in any song and I'm telling you that note that he hit was at least 13 seconds or more it was phenomenal

There's no hate from me, Geoff was great. With only 2 original members remain today, it's almost a karaoke band. Todd rescues the band, as u know he sounds like the 1984 Geoff Tate

I saw Geoff Tate (and Queensryche obviously) the first time they ever played in NYC. It was at a tiny club in Queens called L'Amours East and I stood about 10 feet from the stage. It was the most amazing show I've ever seen and I've been to 100's of live shows. His voice was one of a kind. There will NEVER be another Geoff Tate.

Was at this show. QR was one of the main reasons I went. I wasn't expecting the 80's-90's QR. Time moves on for all of us. I just appreciated being able to see a lot of great bands for 3 days in a row. As far as I'm concerned, the only truly "low" point was Megadeth and that was only because you couldn't really hear Dave.

I feel pain watching this. I'd just finished watching a well-known (Hollywood) Vocal Coach react to the 1984 Tokyo performance of TAKE HOLD OF THE FLAME. The exclamations from the coach were fun to watch but he also got into exactly what Tate was doing - paraphrased - "He is the greatest vocalist of my lifetime". High praise indeed!! So I've decided that I will always worship the Geoff Tate we, who were there, know and love. I can't condemn a man. I don't have the right. But, I would prefer to think (now don't get mad) that Queensryche broke up in the early '90's and then were resurrected with Todd La Torre. THE VERDICT is beautiful and powerful.

Dont get me wrong I love Tate from way back but lets not forget that Tate sang on a demo with music already written by Degarmo, Wilton, Jackson, & Rockenfield and decided to leave Myst & Kelly Gray because he was no fool and knew these guys had more potential. And yes Tate contributed to the greatness but he also tore down the great band too. Now the great Band will rise again!

I still believe that queenryche and geof can do amazing jobs as long as they have a musical focus. Sometimes simplicity in music its the best way to show honesty. my bf at the time used to hangout and drink with Scott Weiland with a few of their close friends. Interestingly enough, Scott didn't like to talk about his music too much but was quick to praise certain bands and musicians or say which ones were straight out sh*t. He happened to bring up Geoff one time saying that he had an amazing voice and was seriously underrated and that he felt he was too good for QR.. (these are Scott's words not mine, don't shoot the messenger). He said that they had poor marketing and management which is why they split. I wonder if Scott was referring to Tate's wife since she was pretty much running the show behind the scenes. Guess I'll never know now. RIP Scott 🤘

I don't care what all of these other jerks say, I think the band did a great job here. People seem to think that people don't age and voices don't change. The fact is that the lead singer is still performing these old songs for fans despite not being able to hit all the notes that he could when he was 20-30 freaking years younger! Hell if Steve Perry came back and sang with Journey again I would jump at the chance to see him even if it's keyed 3 octaves lower and he missed half of the notes. A real fan cares about the spirit of the music.

Actually, this was the very last performance of the old line-up of the band (after the notorious spitting incident in Brazil), and it's so completely absymal that it almost made me cry. Geoff Tate in his prime was one of the best vocalists I've ever heard in my entire life, delivering live performances of unequaled perfection, but the guy I remember from the late 90's (or even the early 00's) has absolutely nothing in common with the washed-up has-been that's jerking around on this stage. I really think he might be drunk or something, because partially he sounds like a deadbeat version of Kermit the frog. Just compare these Rocklahoma renditions (and especially "Silent Lucidity" or "Eyes of a Stranger") to any live recording from before 2005 and you'll instantly know, what I mean. :/
@hinjurock
@hinjurock 9 жыл бұрын
+HolySaintBooty He still sounds really good here, especially for being 52 - many Rock and Metal singers lose their range by the time they hit their early 40's. Also, singer and musicians respond to the audience's reaction - it's hard to get motivated and be at your peak when the crowd is completely lame and unenthusiastic like they are here.

Perhaps we should all just wait for awhile. Cool down, let both parties sort themselves out. Listen to what they have to offer. That´s the main thing anyway! Perhaps we´ll eventually have two great bands, never mind what they call themselves.

Last time I saw them live, Tate was using playback on the chorus or any high note, unfourtanlly for them that concert was incredible alone, I mean 100 people at most, and this playback were very notorious, I was real disapointed.

The background vocals are a bit off (flat) on some songs which is great because you KNOW that it is LIVE.I feel bad for the band because the crowd was so ehhh. But Tate was sort of a dick the way he talked to them about it. He could have been more encouraging and whipped the crowd into a frenzy if he wanted to. Bummer.

Vince Lorenca I would agree. How the mighty have fallen. In my opinion, as a band in the late 80s there was no better than Queensryche. What has happened during the split and the two Queensryches is just sad as can be. As for Geoff Tate, he is a hollow hollow shell of what he once was and I can sing Queensryche better than him...sad.

Something must be seriously wrong when you lose almost your entire band including one that was part of the family at one time (Parker). Ok, yes Tate was QR and worked hard to build up the band. I respect him for his at one time amazing voice. "you guys suck" UNPROFESSIONAL. I have to tell you I saw the new lineup two days ago at Hampton Beach Casino and Todd was amazing, he was professional he has an awesome voice, this band is tight and they blew the roof off the casino. Plus, they are writing new music that is equally as amazing. I stood there all night with my jaw on the floor because they blew me away. If you haven't seen the new lineup yet, I believe you are doing yourself a real disservice. Change is sometimes a good thing!

anybody watching this can see the tension between eddie, michael, scott, and geoff. I don't agree with how the situation was handled, nor did geoff interact with the crowd like he normally did. I'm sad that this incarnation of the band imploded, but to me the term bandmeans an all-encompassing contribution of all members, not just one member dominating after years of democracy. Still love Ryche, but something is poisoning that band from the inside
@joshuacole6543
@joshuacole6543 11 жыл бұрын
You can really see the tension among the band here. Especially with Jackson and Wilton. Notice how Wilton backs up every time Tate get near. He's afraid Tate will snap on him again. Jackson just said "screw it" and hung out in the back of the stage the whole time, not even gonna try it.
